Alexander McCall Smith’s No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series has become a worldwide phenomenon thanks to the appeal of endearing protagonist Precious Ramotswe and the author’s charmingly quirky prose. In this 13th installment, Mma Ramotswe’s attention is focused on a pesky disciplinary problem at her adopted daughter’s school - while Grace Makutsi adjusts to wedded bliss and the famed Clovis Andersen arrives in Botswana looking for more than bush tea.

If you could sum up The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection in three words, what would they be?

Many issues are facing and the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency and a special visitor has come to see them. Once again the Ladies are getting involved and helping others. As always, the characters are interesting and yet reflect our everyday issues of trust and doing the right thing. I'm ready for the next adventure.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how Clovis Anderson was helpful, humble and in the end was himself healed.

Which scene was your favorite?

I was happy that there was resolution for Grace and Putti with their house. I was afraid that wasn't going to have a happy ending.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did both-that's the way with Botswana

Any additional comments?

I love this narrator. Don't think I can ever just "read" these books again. So great to hear her voice. Makes me feel like I'm there in Botswana and the Speedy Motors.

Trouble in Botswana

Alexander McCall Smith does it again. His stories about Precious and her friends and family are a wonderful break from the realities of the world. I love that the series stresses living a thoughtful and intentional life.

Lisette Lecat does a wonderful job of reading.

The Corduroy Mansion series, also by McCall Smith, is equally delightful.

Delightful and thoughtful as always

Love the many ways to slow down and be still. For when we are still we see more. That is what one detective from the United States learned from Precious. To met a hero of yours and to simply see him, Precious saw this and while he taught her a few things, she gave him so much more. It is never easy to met a hero but she also met him……. Thank you for such exquisite work of words and insights! It has been a pleasure.

No matter where we are we still are there.

Love visiting Botswana this way. Have not listened to anything in this series for a while so this was like visiting with old friends. And I did really like the ending.

Great ending

Lisette Lecat brings to life the wonderful, endearing characters of the author. I feel I know each one and I take joy in their triumphs and sadness in their troubles.

What a delight, as always.
