Publisher's summary

There’s a smokin’ hot dead guy locked in my garden shed. That part’s bad enough. But now, he’s trying to get out.

Growing up, my father always told me that I’d come to a bad end, just like my mom did when I was a kid. Hearing that kind of stuff when you’re little eventually gets to a girl, but I can’t say I ever expected my "bad end" to involve an angry vampire with a severe case of iron deficiency and a panty-melting English accent.

Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. Ever since my mother was assassinated, I’ve felt like there was something vast and frightening hidden beneath the fabric of the world - something none of us are supposed to know about.

So far, finding out I was right hasn’t been nearly as satisfying as I’d hoped. I guess the trick will be staying alive long enough to shout, "I told you so" from the rooftops.

But before I can do that, I really need to figure out if the vampire who just bit me is one of the good guys or not.

The Last Vampire is a steamy, new urban fantasy romance series from USA Today best-selling author R. A. Steffan and Jaelynn Woolf, co-authors of the Circle of Blood saga.

Download book one today, and enter a world shared by humans, fae, demons, and one very reluctant vampire. It’s a place where the supernatural threatens the mundane, nothing is as it seems, and love will either be the world’s downfall - or its salvation.

Exciting start to series

I received a free copy of the audio book in exchange for an honest review. I liked the story. It was exciting. It starts with the heroine being exposed to the supernatural world and takes off from there. As the story unfolds she learns things about herself. There are still a lot of mysteries to resolve. The book ends with a cliffhanger. I liked the H and h. I also liked the dynamic of them together. I look forward to seeing their relationship grow. The story is different and I liked that as well. I thought the narrator did a wonderful job. Her voice fit the heroine. Her male voices were great too. The timing and pacing was well done.

Unsure...

This book leaves room for potential fail or goodness for the rest of the series.. I will go on to book two in series to see how it goes. At this time the book is slow yet all over the place. It is possible that this book is all ground work.

Fantastic First In Series

Zorah's journey of self discovery is just beginning in this fast paced, keep you up reading all night, fantastic first in series. This book grabs you from the start and doesn't let go until long after you have stopped reading. I quickly became invested in Zorah's story. Although this is a paranormal read Zorah is extremely relatable. The narrator is amazing bringing the story to life with perfect pacing and easy to understand yet distinguishable character voices. I am excited to see where Zorah's journey leads next - no matter where it is I know it will be filled with non stop action, laughs and romance.

Promising start to this paranormal series

A promising start to this paranormal series! A very intriguing storyline, my attention was captured with the opening scene of a mysterious (potentially) dead man, and while knowing the title of the book “The Last Vampire”, I knew I would want to discover the who, what, and why, and how Zorah would fit into it all. I was pleasantly surprised with how the story unfolded, incorporating other paranormal creatures and a history of war not known to humankind. I love that Rans is quite the laid back, snarky vampire and balances Zorah’s worrisome, panicky personality. But hey, who wouldn’t be panicky learning about vampires? The authors do a great job of layering the suspense, while slowly uncovering detail after detail that connect Zorah to a paranormal world that she never realized. The twist of Zorah’s character definitely leads to some stimulating sex scenes, and curious how that will play out going forward. Ending with a cliffhanger, I’m definitely engaged enough to continue on and see what fate has in store for them. While narrator Gwendolyn Druyor did a great British male voice for Rans, I wasn’t too keen on how she performed for Zorah. It took me half the book to get used to the whiny, immature voice which was possibly meant to show Zorah’s lack of experience and backbone(?), but by the end the narrator grew on me and it wasn’t as bothersome.

not a bad start to a new series

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This book was pretty good. It has a decent balance between action/paranormal content and the romance/relationship stuff. The author provides good imagery and the characters are engaging. The story line is pretty good. There are a couple of twists to the plot thrown in. It didn't exactly keep me guessing, but it wasn't so predictable it was boring. The narration is ok. Her voice has a bit of whine to it, which I don't recall taking note of in the Circle of Blood series written and narrated by this same duo. It wasn't THAT bad, but I did take note of it. Anyway, I did enjoy this book and would be open to continuing the series.

An Interesting Twist to PNR

I received an Audible copy for an honest review via Audiobook Boom. What follows is my opinion and mine alone. There was no compensation for this review. The Last Vampire: Book One is the first in a trilogy about a 26 year old woman who is thrust into the paranormal world after a brief bitten encounter with a vampire. The last vampire in fact. Go fig.The story is what I consider a slow burn. Our love interest and MC just barely know each other in the events of the book. In fact, they are only with each other in three solid instances. That says something there. It makes me label this book more on the urban fantasy versus romance field. There is some sex going on near the last quarter of the book that I have read is more clinical than steamy. I personally found it to be both and I found the reason for that to be logical and interesting. The MC is a "girl with unknown power" and does do the enigma trope well but I feel she could get better as the books progress. If anything, I'm not ready to pass judgment on her completely even if the book ended. The writing is easy to get into and there were parts that were funny, as intended. I did find the book to be enjoyable and wouldn't mind reading book two. There were moments I was scratching my head trying to figure out where the authors were going and I was super stoked at who the baddies were. Honestly, these guys are hardly ever the baddies... THANK YOU!I did have an issue with the way it ended. It seemed to just end instead of having a climactic moment and solid resolution. That said, there is a second book and I do hope that book has a better ending in comparison. All in all, it was a fun romp and I could see myself continuing the series.Final Rating: 3/5

A Great Plot!

The authors did a really great job on this first book. I was hooked from the beginning on this one. I applaud the authors on their originality of the plot and various twists throughout. The characters are really likeable and I always enjoy a relatively strong female main character. Zorah and Ransley's sort of relationship is kind of a slow burn. There is a lot of world building and background information given in this book that is setting up for future books, thus it ends in a cliffhanger before we get our questions answered. I listened in one sitting and am intrigued to see where this story will go.

The narrator was a perfect fit for this book and I think she gave an outstanding performance. I liked that she gave an appropriate British accent to Ransley, but not so much that it dissected from the story. I think the narration took this book from good to great and I enjoyed the narrator's performance throughout.
