Publisher's summary

“Marissa Stapley’s writing is a gift.” (Pam Jenoff, New York Times best-selling author of The Orphan’s Tale)

The Harmony Resort promises hope for struggling marriages. Run by celebrity power couple Drs. Miles and Grace Markell, the “last resort” offers a chance for partners to repair their relationships in a luxurious setting on the gorgeous Mayan Riviera.

Johanna and Ben have a marriage that looks perfect on the surface, but in reality, they don’t know each other at all. Shell and Colin fight constantly: after all, Colin is a workaholic, and Shell always comes second to his job as an executive at a powerful mining company. But what has really torn them apart is too devastating to talk about.

When both couples begin Harmony’s intensive therapy program, it becomes clear that Harmony is not all it seems - and neither are Miles and Grace themselves. What are they hiding, and what price will these couples pay for finding out?

As a deadly tropical storm descends on the coast, trapping the hosts and the guests on the resort, secrets are revealed, loyalties are tested, and not one single person - or their marriage - will remain unchanged by what follows.

Marissa Stapley is a journalist and the author of the acclaimed novel Things to Do When It’s Raining. She writes deeply emotional fiction about families, friends, and women’s lives.

Story is not my cup of!

I found this to be a show moving, winning type of story telling that puts me to sleep.

Hard to follow.

The voice of Miles was awful. I liked the concept but it was not easy to follow.

Triggering with an unexpected ending

Trigger warning for sexual assault and domestic violence survivors.
This story starts out at the end result and works its way back to unfold how it happened. I liked the ending but I felt that the plot was a little predictable. It was an interesting read for sure but didn’t leave me on the edge of my seat.

Trigger Warning Homophobia & Conversion Therapy

I'm not done the book and I'm excited to keep going, but I personally was really startled and upset by a scene around chapter 7. If you're a lesbian or any kind of LGBT+, expect some upsetting POV of conversion therapy and homophobia, as well as two lesbians in compulsory heterosexual relationships. I really hope that these characters get acceptance and happiness and that's why I'm still listening, but I was close to stopping. A warning would have been nice so I figured I'd pay it forward. Stars in rating aren't reflective of my overall thoughts.

Don’t get if you don’t like Crude language

I returned the book before getting into it very far as I don’t want to listen to a book with crude language so I can’t comment on the story but had to rate it in order to submit review.

Absolutely horrible

I have never left a review for a book but felt the need to for this one as a warning. This was painfully awful. I am so sorry I even wasted a credit on this book. If I could give it zero stars I would. You’ve been warned!

Silly storyline with sillier characters

No depth to the characters. The premise is ridiculous. The story totally disregards all the other guests at the resort and the characters act as if this one guy can control them all. Would not recommend. Narrator should know the difference between wreck and wreak.
