A great intro for a new world

This is great introduction for what should be a longer novel. The world we are introduced to has a unique new magic system that is based on runic symbols. Runes are a favorite thing of mine since I was akid and first watched Night of the Demon. Casting runes has stuck with me ever since, and seeing the concept in the HBO movie Cast a Deadly Spell reinforced this concept. So, as soon as I saw runes were involved my radar went off and I became interested. It didn't disappoint.

As I said, the story should have been longer, Fierce could have spent a little more time fleshing things out, but since it is a short story that isn't an issue. His writing leaves you wanting more, though, so don't read this unless you want to get stuck waiting for another story set in this creative world.

Green does a great job narrating. He just has one of those hypnotic voices that draws you into the story even deeper than you'd believe, and keeps you there right up to the end. He is a master craftsman. I did recieve a free promo code to review this book, but everything I have said is true and has had no influence on my review.

a little perplexed

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

So, this seems like a story idea, or introduction to the start of a new book. I'm honestly perplexed why this was released by itself. For what it is, though, it is well written and is definitely a good set up for a new series. The narration is well done, too, so if you are curious, and don't mind waiting for an actual novel to come out based on what you hear here, then it is worth checking out. Otherwise I'd skip it until the full length one is released (if one is, of course).

Short Story in a Complex New Universe

Story/Attention Holding

The Last Page by Richard Fierce and narrated by Kevin E. Green is a unique short story. This short audiobook contains an immense and deeply layered world filled with characters that are not always what they appear to be. The author has introduced the listener to a fantastic universe that is waiting to be explored by the listener. For a short audiobook, it is filled with information that could take more than one time through to glean all the details.

The main character is a young man living in a world where women are not allowed to read or write. He is the firstborn son of the leading Holy man and expected to step. All until he meets a woman who challenges his beliefs and leads him to a new way of thinking and perceiving the world. This is a very enjoyable short story that holds your attention if you enjoy fantasy short stories.

Narration/Production Value

The narration provided by Kevin E. Green is well done in this short performance. Each character is distinct and unique. Mr. Green does an excellent job of taking the listener on an enjoyable trip to a new complex world. The production value of the audiobook is of a high quality. The audiobooks sound quality has a great crispness and clarity throughout the entire production. This review copy audiobook was provided free of charge for an unbiased review.

Unexpected

This isn't a simple story. There are layers to it that I wasn't expecting to find in a book of this length.

When I finished it I felt a bit dumbstruck, I wasn't sure if I loved it or if I wanted to say 'wow, what a mindf**k'.

The characters are realistic and have depth, the writing is well done, I found myself drawn in. There's a lot happening emotionally and parts of the story make me think about ethics and morality.

I want to listen to it again, and again.

The character voices are well done and the delivery conveys the tone of the story really well.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

5 Stars, I will recommend this to everyone.

I did not expect much from this story because it was so short. I was pleasantly surprised. It was intresting. It was creative and original. I loved the story's overall concept almost as much as I loved the implications of good and evil. This is the kind of story that I will try to get my friends to read even though they dont read. I just wish there were more. I would love to see this as a series.

Obviously setting readers up for something bigger.

The Last Page

By: Richard Fierce Narrated by: Kevin E. Green

This was well written and narrated short story. It’s obvious the author was setting readers up for something bigger; however, the story suffered from the need to make it short. I would have liked a little more of a back story, as I was confused for a large percentage of the beginning. The setting was imaginative and interesting; I wish I could have spent a little more time there. I know this will be a great series, but I think I’ll wait until I can read or listen to the entire series at once. I’m not a fan of cliffhangers. The narrator did a great job, it sounded as if the story was written for him.
Overall I give this story a rating of 3 stars; I liked it but it could have been better.

FASCINATING PEEK ITO ANOTHER WORLD...

While short, this story was packed with twists, intrigue, complexity. I was fascinated and enthralled, and really enjoyed it, crazy alternate reality. I also loved the narrator, he did an amazing job. I'd definitely recommend this one, hopefully there will be more to come in the future!

A Very Short Story

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. I found it hard to wrap myself around this short story. It was confusing at first because I was not sure if the person telling the story was a young boy, a teenager or a twenty-something. As the story moved along it got a little clearer. But there has to be more to the story than presented. The narrator was very good and kept me listening.

Interesting idea

I loved the style of writing and concept. The story seemed rushed and there wasn’t much for character development. I think this would be better as a novel rather than a short story.

All and all I enjoyed it.

The narrator was good but slow. I had to listen to it on a faster speed.
