Publisher's summary

Lights. Camera. Murder. When lies become reality, can Poe find the truth before a killer strikes again?

As Maui’s best private investigator, Edgar Allan “Poe” Rutherford understands the importance of keeping a low profile. That becomes impossible when a new reality TV show comes to the island, which features an eccentric handful of divorcees looking for love. But when one of the women is poisoned to death, the show’s production comes to a grinding halt.

At the same time, a few miles down the beach, a divorce attorney is stabbed multiple times while she sits on a lounge chair and watches the sun set over the Pacific Ocean. The methods of murder, as well as the victims, couldn’t be more different, yet Poe has a sneaking suspicion they’re somehow related.

As Poe dives deep into the backgrounds of the show’s cast and crew, as well as the attorney, he learns that nothing’s real in reality TV and everyone has a dark secret.

The Last Kill is the tenth standalone novel in the Murder on Maui series. If you enjoy colorful characters, a touch of humor, and plots that bend and twist like a palm tree on a windy beach, then you’ll love Robert W Stephens’ mysteries.

Intriguing Mystery

This is the 10th book in the Murder on Maui series. I hope the author writes more. I enjoy the series very much. The narrator is excellent!

In this book Stephens reaches back and advances two more characters from his previous book Nancy, the senior citizen “neighborhood watcher” and Det. Makamae Kalani.

Mara, his previous lawyer & employer, becomes a prominent suspect in one of the killings.

Foxx’s usually prominent role is sidelined a little so as to make more room for the new female detective that is getting under Poe’s wife’s, Alana’s, skin.

Many new characters are introduced and involved. I’m 68 & had a slight problem with the extra characters. However, this was easily solved by using the ebook & it’s search function as a companion. I think young people, people who hear clearly, and people who 99% focus when listening should have an easy time keeping track of all the characters, especially if they have read the other books in the series.

Hollywood Poe

When a reality TV show comes to Maui, you just know there's going to some bodies laying around. Fox gets in on the action and ends up with a baseball bat through his windshield. Poe makes a solo trip to Hollywood to find the truth, but gets propositioned by Alana's rival. Old secrets of a washed up (and drowned) actress bring a tragic turns of events. But, never fear, Poe is on the case! Outstanding story and narration, as always with this series.
