What if the British Empire won the American Revolution—and never let go?

By 2052, the Empire spans continents, ruling from its capital in New York. Generations of constant war have consolidated the monarchy’s power and reduced Parliament to a puppet. Censorship, violence, and control govern daily life. But the thirst for freedom never fully died.

They tried—five times—to win it back. Each time, they failed.

Now, a sudden rupture inside the Royal Family has changed everything. And the fractured, sometimes competing rebels have their best chance in a generation to strike.

This isn’t just a what-if story. It’s a bold, high-stakes epic that moves from the battlefields of Texas to palace intrigue in Bombay, from the streets of Montreal to the skies over Sicily. It’s a novel about resistance to tyranny, about loyalty, ideology, and the terrible price of building a new world from the ruins of an old one.

The Last Good Queen bridges the Founders’ vision and the political anxieties of the present. It’s a globe-spanning alternate history that asks what happens when truth becomes a threat, when power answers only to itself, and when the institutions meant to protect liberty have collapsed.

At the heart of the conflict are two unforgettable characters:

Alexandra Baker, a war veteran turned rogue journalist silenced by violence and betrayal, must decide whether bearing witness is enough—or whether the fight for truth demands something more.

Andrew Greg, a brilliant strategist and lifelong rebel, must forge uneasy alliances and hold the line when all hope seems lost.

Their choices—and their sacrifices—will shape the fate of a global rebellion.

This novel rewards listeners who want more. And that’s intentional.

Yes, it’s fast-paced: sabotage missions, naval battles, underground networks, and irreversible stakes.

But it’s also layered: the plot spans continents and perspectives, with emotional depth and political tension that rewards close attention.

Okay, so… this book is okay. It’s not terrible, but not great either. It absolutely has the feel of something that was written to some degree using AI, however. There are certain phrases that those things will use repetitiously, and they are all over this book. Not a quote (because I don’t feel like going back and finding direct quotes), but stuff like “It wasn’t a victory, it was a statement”. Over. And over. And over. And there are small historical details that don’t necessarily make sense in this alternate timeline. The author references FDR Drive in New York, but why would there even be an FDR-anything in a world without a WW2 where Roosevelt distinguished himself as a leader? Why would there be an interstate system in the Americas that aren’t states? Why would there have been a Soviet Union (and, weirdly, a presidential post Soviet Union) in a world where monarchies were the dominant world order and the pressures of WW1 didn’t force Russia’s crown to collapse on itself?

So, it’s an okay book. Dry and repetitious at times, but with a neat premise. The characters all feel a bit flat, and sometimes the ties between them feel like they just dissolve or are forgotten. But it definitely, to me at least, feels like a string of ChatGPT prompts edited together.
