Pastiche story from H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds from the perspective of H.M.S. Thunder Child’s Royal Navy crew. The year is 1898, and the story unfolds through the eyes of an ironclad crew and a land-based war office clerk Mister Albert Stanley. Gradually, everyone moves toward the dreadful outcome as the strange alien tripods rampage around Victorian Britain.

I'd always wished to learn more about the little scenes within WotW, especially Thunderchild and this fills that need admirably! I just wish the other 5 books in this series were all available on Audible, too, because I'd buy all of them at once on the strength of this first! I especially appreciated that the author did not try to write as Wells but rather wrote his own tale of those events. Thoroughly enjoyed, completely recommend to all fans of WotW who long for a bit more views of the Great Invasion.

My sole "complaint" is my reluctance to finish the last chapters because I didn't want the characters I'd become familiar with to perish.

Very very good!
