Publisher's Summary

Claire Sullivan has a soft spot for helping those in need. So when her favorite aunt grows blind, Claire can't resist traveling to the Montana Territory to care for her. But she never imagined the country would be so wild compared to her North Carolina home. Doctor Bryan Donaghue is sick of working so hard for people who don't want his help. He came to this wild Montana mining town to make a difference, but all he's found is pig-headed resistance. Even the sassy niece of the blind widow won't heed his instructions. But when disaster strikes their rough mining village, how can Claire choose between what's best for her aunt and what her heart tells her is right? Can Bryan find a way to save these people - especially the woman he's come to love?

Sing-song-reading so annoying!

The sing-songy reading is killing the story! I cannot follow the story with the narration that sounds like an eight-year-old girl.

The narrator

I might be too critical but I really like these books but the Narrator just does not grab my attention. I put the book at a faster read just because I like the books and this is my 2nd time listening to them but I don't like the narrator:s voice..

Good book, bad narration.

This was a good book. But the narration was very distracting. The character lines were read as if before a kindergarten class. They sounded cartoonish. Narration detracted from story for me.

Disappointed with Performance

I liked the story but this was a painful few hours of my life. The narrator sounded like a newscaster that was trying to inject emotion (and failing) into the story. I was glad when it ended. It’s a shame because I really like Beller’s books. This was a narration fluke.

Annoying narrator

I have enjoyed this series, but I almost had to stop listening to this one because of the narrator. Her voice had very strange inflections and the the voice of the heroine was very high and child like.

Just ok

Christians are known for their kindness but they should not forget to be honest. The faith based story was refreshing and it was a good storyline. But I feel the author was resting on her laurels a bit. The whole thing could have been better. I Did not know it was part of a series. I'm going to try the others in the series but from the library. I will not purchase.

This just in...

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator sounds like a news caster. It is painful. Beller has simple, sweet, enjoyable stories. Though not challenging or insightful, they are full of life, hope, and love. So sad that this story was murdered by the narrator. This just in... Gruesome homicide of a sweet story.

Unfortunate narration

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

N/A

What other book might you compare The Lady and the Mountain Fire to and why?

Ms. Beller's other books.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She did not use good judgment in trying to vary the voices of each character. She used a little girl voice (which I found annoying) for the heroine. The narrator has a pleasant voice and could have used her voice for the heroine instead of putting on this high pitched silly voice. Her voice for all the women was not used in a conversational manner. Her voice for the hero was more believable because she did not force it.She mispronounced many words. For example, enveloped does not mean putting into an envelope. The word is envelop ed: to surround. Albeit is not "all bait". Etc. It ruins the story when the narration is uneducated.

Did The Lady and the Mountain Fire inspire you to do anything?

I enjoyed looking up the bible passages.

Any additional comments?

This was a good story, as I have found all of Ms. Beller's books in this genre.

Excellent story

Christian morals; good storyline and character development. Enjoyed the narrator but felt that she was rushing many times. I kept wanting to say "please slow down". Really enjoyed this series and this author.
