How well do you know your neighbor?

Jessica is headed over to her new neighbor Martha’s house one evening after casually volunteering to help her get settled in. Both are young nurses and, turns out, survivors of toxic relationships; in fact, they’ve got plenty in common. Plus, a fun and friendly peer is a welcome upgrade to their sleepy, suburban street bordered by woods.

Overhead, a floorboard creaks. Someone else is in the house.

Martha, too, is grateful for the company. Over bottles of wine and Chinese takeout, it’s set to be an evening of emptying boxes and unpacking the past.

With three days off from her shifts at the hospital, Jessica’s got no other plans than to relax, play with her dog, and unwind.

Blue fire arches across the basement's ceiling.

She’s been meaning to get out more. Make some friends. Live a little.

The hammer strikes bone with a wet, sickening crunch.

Even if they don’t become the best of friends, what’s the harm in a kind deed?

Tucked in her bra, she traces the shiv, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike....

It can’t hurt to be a good neighbor.

A really stupid story with lousy character's and an even more stupid ending

Astoundingly Atrocious

I had never been aware of this author, until by chance I came across the novel, The Third Son. It read as a hidden gem. Although it is a tad short, with a superficially developed plot, it was still wildly entertaining. Sadly, as good as I found the Third Son to be, the above title by Green is the polar opposite.
