Publisher's summary

A Wall Street Journal bestseller.

Secrets told in the church ladies' room are supposed to stay in the ladies' room. But that doesn't mean that what Trudy overhears there during her great-aunt Gertrude's funeral won't change the rest of her life.

Trudy has a daughter in the middle of a major rebellion, a two-timing husband who has been cheating for their entire married life, and a mother with Alzheimer's residing in the local nursing home. She doesn't really need a crumbling old house about to fall into nothing but a pile of memories and broken knickknacks.

Billy Lee Tucker, resident oddball in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, lived next door to Gert, and in her will she leaves him the funds to help Trudy remodel the old house. That's fine with Billy Lee, because he's been in love with Trudy since before they started school. And just spending time with her is something he'd never ever allowed himself to dream about.

A beautiful home rises up from the old house on Broadway, and right along with it rises up a relationship. But is Trudy too scarred from what she heard in the ladies' room to see a lovely future with Billy Lee?

Loved it!

This is a great writer with a super love story and no cuss words and no sex scenes.
Sometimes clean stories are boring but with this good writing and humor I could not put down

Soul Food!

For anyone who has experienced loss or betrayal and doubted life would ever be live-able, much less wonderful again, this is your book! Might just be a story, but any narrative that illuminates possibilities that seem unattainable can spark hope - and that's how a new chapter in "real" life can begin.
Spending time with Trudy and Billy Lee fills mind, heart and soul with uplifting energy, affirmation of the joys of true companionship and a gentle reminder to look beyond appearances because more often than not, there is goodness within - a timely nudge about the gifts we might deny ourselves if we fear those who seem different or odd somehow.

Further, this narrator is a natural fit for the character and generates the sense that the author is simply telling her story. Only drawback was to reach the end of a story and characters too good to disconnect from.

Cheeky Southern Underdog Tale

Trudy is such a relatable character, facing similar struggles and plowing down her obstacles. This creates a bond between the reader and the heroine. Keeping hope alive and adding humor even when your rose colored glasses are shattered on the pavement, bonds readers/listeners and the heroine as they cheer her along. Audiences of all genders and ages will find humor in the cheeky Southern practice of smiling while stabbing those who stand in your way. Of course ladies, 40-60 who have endured similar struggles will find the book the most helpful.

Sweet, clean story!

This was a sweet story that will make you feel good to listen to. If you're the shy type about listening to sexy books, you'll be perfectly comfortable with this one. If you're contemplating leaving a cheating husband, this will give you inspiration and hope. ❤️

Entertaining and easy listen

The main character and her story reminded me a little bit of Evelyn Couch ( Kathy Bates) in Fried Green Tomatoes. The Ladies Room is a gentle story of a woman who is jarred into taking aggressive action to rebuild her own life. Just a ride along and fun listen.

Kept Me Giggling

A sweet story of discovering everything you don't know, that is right under your nose. It reconfirms that we should never judge a book by the cover. I was giggling outloud throughout; a fun and easy (audible) read.

Cute, clean southern tale

This is a fine story if you're looking for something clean and cute. It's very predictable, the entire way through, but the characters are nice and the story is one you could imagine actually happening. Maybe if we all had an Aunt Gert ;)

Simplistic and unrealistic

Story was too simplistic. Billy Lee wasn't well rounded, he was simply too nice. Story was predictable. Listened to the whole thing because once I start a book, I finish it. Sweet, light read but no depth.

Great Story

This was a cute story with likeable characters and a great narrator. It is a clean story with a little bit of hope and a woman who shows strength in starting over and keeping her head up. I really enjoyed the story.

4.32 stars! Really? Why?

This is one of those books that I don't know why I continued listening. I guess I kept thinking something would get interesting and there must be a reason for the high rating. I found no depth to any of the characters. The only character of any possible interest was the dead aunt. Some of the scenes(i.e. confrontation at the in-laws home being among many) and reactions(i.e. just found out her 19ish year old daughter eloped to Vegas and just accepts it with no questions asked) to be unrealistic or that the author just didn't have the energy to incorporate the details of real life scenarios and reaction. I felt like I listened to the dumbed-down, abridged version of a book that edited out the charm, humor and likable characters other reviewers had in their version. There were a few times I went back and listened to a section a second time because the characters were cracking up with each other over something "hilarious" and I thought I missed the something. Nope, just wasn't funny! I wish I had stopped listening to it and returned the first time I thought of it(somewhere in chapter 1). Because I don't feel right about returning a book I've listened to in entirety, I've not only wasted 8 hours and 8 minutes of time but a credit as well.
