Publisher's Summary

From multi-million-copy number one best seller Mark Billingham comes a twisting, unbearably gripping DI Tom Thorne and Nicola Tanner thriller inspired by a dramatic real-life case.

How do you catch a killer who is yet to kill?

We've all heard about the signs: coldness, cruelty, mistreatment of animals. DI Tom Thorne knows the psychological profile of a psychopath all too well, so when pets start disappearing on suburban London streets, he sees a chance to stop a future murderer.

Others are less convinced, so Thorne relies on DI Nicola Tanner to help him solve the case, before the culprit starts hunting people. The journey brings them face to face with a killer who will tear their lives apart.

Fabulous

As always mark billingham never fails to to entertain. He is such a good story teller. I did like him narrating it but I wished he’d changed his voice for each character. Sometimes it was a bit hard knowing who was talking

Billingham Scores Again

There’s no one to beat Billingham when it comes to the dark side of London.
As gruesome as ever the story leaves a real ‘bond’ between Thorne and Tanner in terms of what really happened at the denouement and the Epilogue leaves chilling thoughts about the future.

Another Winner!

With every novel, Mark Billingham's characters develop and grow. His story lines remain contemporary and, although they are always based in the modern world, they are realistic and do not try
too hard to "digital name drop" and I find this refreshing as well.
If you've been a Thorne fan from the start, or just joining the party now, this novel's twists and turns will not disappoint you!

Average at Best

The story is a bit pedestrian and also a bit far fetched if you ask me. I'm also not a fan of the author reading their own books. They don't have the gift to give full voice to all the characters. Not sure I'd listen to another Mark Billingham novel.

Fast moving enough to hold your interest but...

I’d seen the Tom Thorne novels around so thought I’d give one a try. To me it was all a bit predictable and contrived, with the police jumping to some really questionable conclusions and missing some obvious lines of investigation, but it moves along quick enough.

Again, Mark Billingham delivers a great thriller

crime subplots all handled with care; combined with a forward movement on the Tom and Helen relationship made this a great read.

Another Tom Thorne classic

Yet another great story. Mark Billingham's narration or his own story is superb, and helps give an insight into the characters
