Sherlock Holmes is an unparalleled genius who uses the gift of deduction and reason to solve the most vexing of crimes. Warlock Holmes, however, is an idiot. A good man, perhaps; a font of arcane power, certainly. But he's brilliantly dim. Frankly, he couldn't deduce his way out of a paper bag. The only thing he has really got going for him are the might of a thousand demons and his stalwart flatmate. Thankfully, Dr. Watson is always there to aid him through the treacherous shoals of Victorian propriety.

Just who is saving whom and from what? That is a question that you will ponder frequently as the story unfolds.

Good listen
What made the experience of listening to The Kill Shot the most enjoyable?
This book was a good book but I just didn't care for the narrator. This book really helped 350 miles pass by a lot faster. I do appreciate authors that spend their time writing books because it makes my job and life a lot easier and makes the miles move faster.
What other book might you compare The Kill Shot to and why?
Can't think of any
What three words best describe Craig Hensley’s voice?
I did not care for this narrator
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I liked all of the information on the old photography
Any additional comments?
This book was a good listen I'm a trucker and it didn't take me long to finish this novel once I got it started. I would listen to another novel by this author.

Awesomely Original!
Usually when reading a western , There is a really good guy who is a snapshot and has todefend his home, town or loved ones from The evil guy or gang. With a lot at stake he goes against the yard and usually defeats them. This book is nothing at all like that. There is a bad guy or rather there’s two, but it’s not a guy out to defend his or his girls on her. It’s a woman and she is out to revenge her husband‘s death and she is a crack shot but not with a gun. This book was awesome I love that the writing was so smart and naturally funny. I especially love the things after Lily and Darcy become friends or rather the very first meeting was my favorite part. I won’t give anything away you have to read the book but trust me it is worth reading. I love this book or did I say that already. The narrator was perfect the story was perfect the book is just perfect.correct for its time I thought the author must really love westerns because only a man who loves the wild west could write such a beautiful

4.5/5 Stars Fun Western Story
Summary: Darcey Teller and Luv Lass team up to take on some heartless outlaws.
Additional Comments:
- The blurb pretty much outlines the whole story.
- It's not a perfect story, but there are enough twists and turns to keep things interesting.
- Darcey's emotions are a bit hard to peg down. She goes basically ballistic over the death of a total stranger. That's weird. The husband thing I get. That makes more sense because there's a much closer connection, but the other part doesn't click.
- The friendship that grows between Darcey and Luv Lass happens in fits and spurts, which is great.
- Pacing's strange. Some sections drag on and then others pass in a blink. But the key for me is the good guys/bad guys. There are clearcut lines here, and I wanted to root for the good guys.
Conclusion: A worthwhile Western to dive in to.
*I received a copy of the audiobook, and I freely chose to review it.
(I know the stars thing should work out to a 4 but the combined effect of the story telling was pretty good. I was entertained. And this site doesn't do half stars easily.)

A western with a strong main female character
This is a story of vengeance and justice. Two outlaws are responsible for the two people’s deaths. Darcey Teller will seek revenge, and be the strong woman in a men’s world.
I really enjoyed this western. Usually this kind of novels have male main characters but here we are up against a strong main female character helped by another outstanding woman. The characters were quite well portrayed and it was easy to connect to them.
I don’t want to give any spoilers away, but at first I had troubles to buy Darcey’s desire for revenge. It seemed a very unfortunate event but not close enough to her to justify her wrath. Things rapidly changed, and then things started to make more sense. I found some things a bit predictable, but that didn’t deter me from enjoying this book.
There is plenty of action, great dialogs, and numerous facts about old photography that would delight anyone with a little bit of curiosity about the subject. This and the fact that we have a strong woman getting her way in a men’s world are the most remarkable things in this book.
Craig Hensley’s narration was mostly correct but the women’s voices sounded all the same, and he practically just used two accents to differentiate characters. I found it a bit weird that a male narrator was chosen for a book where the two main characters are women. I think this audiobook would have worked a lot better with a female narrator.
I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook and would recommend it to anyone into westerns and strong female characters.
I received a copy of this book in audio format from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is great!
This is a book to keep you on your seat. Darcey Teller one of the main characters she is amazingly smart lady. She is living the happy newly married dream. All that comes to an end when a couple of thief's end her husband's life. The shock of sitting by her husband's side during his last moments makes up Darcey's mind. She's going to find the killers and hopefully bring them to justice. Than the real adventure begins, Old wild west style.
I found myself stopping everything I was doing several times to listen to exactly what was going on in the story. The story line took me through it all Shock, sadness, that oh no feeling, and than the triumph came in the end. It was hard to believe the author could pack that much into a story line less the 6 hours long.
I would listen to this book again.
Narrated by: Craig Hensley did a great job. He really helped bring that old west style out in this story. He was great at the voice changes he did for each character.
I received this audio book free in exchange for an honest review.

'Killer' second book from Tony Gavin
What made the experience of listening to The Kill Shot the most enjoyable?
Having read Tony Gavin's first book, Wooden Star, I was looking forward to reading this. His style has improved immensely from last time, the characters seemed a lot more real. I got completely lost in this book it was so enjoyable.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I know shouldn't like them, but both Rick and Jake get my vote. Nasty pieces of work from the start. They both come across as being totally ruthless and uncompromising and not having an emotional or remorseful bone in their body. I've always harboured a slight desire to play the really bad guy in a film and both these fit the bill.
Have you listened to any of Craig Hensley’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Not listened to any others yet but I intend to
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No, I just enjoyed the whole book from start to finish.
Any additional comments?
Second superb book from this up and coming author. The Kill Shot is a good step up from his last book, Wooden Star, much grittier and totally gripping. I look forward to (hopefully) more books from Mr Gavin. I'm not normally a fan of Western fiction, but hats off to him, I'm totally converted after reading this.

A Great Western
What did you like most about The Kill Shot?
This was the first western I've ever listened to and a break from my usual reading and listening material.
What did you like best about this story?
The story moved quickly and there's a great twist at the end of the book, I can't say more about the end without ruining it.
What about Craig Hensley’s performance did you like?
He had a good range of voices and he brought the characters personalities through.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
The book was a bit to long to listen to in one sitting for me, but it did help make 2 gym sessions and a 10k run fun.
Any additional comments?
I'd definitely give another one of the authors books a listen to if anymore become available on Audible.

A Western With A Difference.
This is a very enjoyable short novel. We are in the wild west, with all the lawlessness that entails and quickly witness to two murders by ruthless robbers. Two wonderfully portrayed women emerge to seek justice. A well written and nicely narrated story with many twists and turns to keep the listener hooked.

In anguish, he turns to his despised ex-friend Matt Bannister to help him get the woman they both love back alive, if they can.
