Publisher's Summary

Continuing the milestone 50th anniversary celebration of Star Trek - an epic new trilogy that stretches from the events of The Original Series movie The Search for Spock to The Next Generation!

The Klingon-Federation alliance is in peril as never before. Lord Korgh has seized control of the House of Kruge, executing a plot 100 years in the making. The Klingon cult known as the Unsung rampages across the stars, striking from the shadows in their cloaked Birds-of-Prey. And the mysterious figure known as Buxtus Cross launches a scheme that will transform the Klingon Empire forever.

Into danger flies Admiral William T. Riker and the USS Titan, charged with protecting the peace forged nearly a century before during the Khitomer Accords. Aided by Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the USS Enterprise, Riker and his officers scour the stars, seeking to find the Unsung and uncover the truth behind the conspiracy before time runs out.

Yet even as Commander Worf departs on a deeply personal mission of honor, hidden sinister forces seek to turn the crisis to their advantage. And the conspirators' plans threaten to spiral out of control, jeopardizing the very empire they aspire to rule.

Dear Kahless let there be a good ending!!

Like the Empire Stikes Back, it leaves off on a hollow ending but thats only because the end is still to come. Just can't wait.

Honor, missing in 2017

The story pulled on an array of emotions, just as a Star Trek adventure should. But what I enjoyed the most, was the time spent on showing Klingon virtues of honor and courage in a manner for all intelligent beings to absorb.

Excellent story, great series

I’m a fan of Star Trek novels and content. This is one of the best Star Trek series I’ve read. Book 2, The Jackal’s Trick is a wonderful addition to this series. I love the story and the twists and turns. Each twist is interesting and useful, not just a way to prolong the story. I can’t wait for Book 3.

Such a great series, need to see how it ends. NOW

This book is really great it tells so much about your favorite Next Generation characters. and so much more you know I have actually met Tim Russ and the next time I see him I'm going to tell him about this book because Tuvok plays such an instrumental role that he needs to know his characters still alive and well in the Star Trek universe.

did cross perform this audiobook?

the portrayal of the characters was done very well, I really enjoyed the reading given here. It was exceptional allowing for immersion into the story buy adequately defining each character with readily recognizable voices from the television series. it's not often that I listen to a book that I can recognize the characters from other sources even being read

Better than the first book, kind of.

So, this entry not only makes the Klingons seem even more incompetent than they usually are, but it makes the crews of the Titan and the Enterprise look really dumb. (Minor Spoiler) They are sitting around wondering how the Unsung knew where to attack. Knowing Korg just changed the location of the meeting to the specific place. They wonder if there night be a mole in his house. But they literally don't even question it might be Korg himself. You know, the guy that literally pretended to be someone else for a century and then when he revealed himself as Korg he immediately turned anti federation, didn't want the meeting to happen, and actively talks against anything that isn't the Empire. but nooooo couldn't be that guy right, Picard? no doesn't even come to mind. It's dumb. but hey, if you can deal with chargers being extra stupid just to make the plot work, then you'll probably enjoy it, as it's not badly written and the events are fun.

overstuffed and overblown

way too much going on in this story to ever really care what's going on for my taste. just when you get focused and invested in a characters Arc they change the location and characters so I just never cared about what was happening.
