Story
100,000 years ago the object hit the lake at the deepest point, quickly sinking into its mile-deep Stygian darkness. The sheets of ice closed, time moved on and the land forgot. But over the centuries, legends grew of people vanishing, of strange, deformed animals and of an unexplained luminescence down in the lake depths. When Marcus Stenson won the lucrative contract to create a sturgeon fish farm on the site of disused paper mill on the shore of Lake Baikal, he thought he had won the lottery and refused to listen to the chilling folktales....

Like the "Dark Continent" of Africa, the dark island of Madagascar holds many chilling secrets. One of them is a long-thought extinct species of dinosaurs living at the country's core. A massive earthquake rocks the mountain range within the Andringitra National Park. The splitting Earth reveals a network of tunnels, hidden away for millennia. Responding to the series of violent upheavals, a pack of hypersensitive predators flee their subterranean home; frenzied and hungry, they head for the surface.

story was pretty decent, narrator was awful
I'm honestly writing this review a bit early. I actually haven't finished the whole book yet and I want to because I love anything to do with dinosaurs. but the narrator choice of this book is just awful. they speak too fast, with no emotion given to any characters at all. everything is read in the same voice. and any form of pause or break is not done properly and so the flow of the story just sounds so mashed together. especially during dialogue between characters. but the overall story so far is the only reason I keep listening. and the fact that there are dinosaurs in it.

Poor dialoguie and horrible narrator
The narrator is beyond awful. Just an absolute amateur. Made listening to the book very difficult.
Story itself is just mediocre. The dialogue is poor and characters are a bit too stereotypical.

Very basic adventure tale
I think if I listened/read this as a teenager I would of loved it, it's very easy to follow along, the story is straight forward and the book as a whole doesn't challenge you much. But listening to this as an adult was hard, no twists, no thrills, no memorable characters, predictable dinosaur encounters. There are so many fantasy 'finding a lost island' type books, this one offers nothing new.
