The Irishman “gives new meaning to the term ‘guilty pleasure.’’’ — Bryan Burrough, author of Public Enemies, in The New York Times Book Review

“Told with such economy and chilling force as to make The Sopranos suddenly seem overwrought and theatrical.” New York Daily News

“A terrific read.” Kansas City Star

The Irishman is an epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked for legendary crime boss Russell Bufalino alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th Century. Spanning decades, Sheeran’s story chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and it offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries and connections to mainstream politics. Sheeran would rise to a position of such prominence that in a RICO suit against The Commission of La Cosa Nostra, the US Government would name him as one of only two non-Italians in conspiracy with the Commission. Sheeran is listed alongside the likes of Anthony “Tony Pro” Provenzano and Anthony “Fat Tony” Salerno.

In the course of nearly five years of recorded interviews, Sheeran confessed to Charles Brandt that he handled more than twenty-five hits for the mob, and Brandt turned Sheeran’s story into a page-turning true crime classic.

Would you consider the audio edition of I Heard You Paint Houses to be better than the print version?

I read the reviews before reading this book so I expected it to be a little slow in getting into the story. NOT SO. I was hooked from the beginning. If you like crime/mafia stories, this is a must.

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

Scott Brick is great. He reads many of the books I have listened to.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Scott Brick is the best reader on the planet. No one can touch his reading skills. He is the Michael Jordan of reading aloud.

Also, this story was really interesting. Besides a lot of the court proceedings in the story, I was hooked to this book. I couldn't wait to get in my car and drive to the Sweet music that is Scott Brick's voice delivering an epic story of the most interesting period in the history of la cosa nostra. Highly recommend this book!!

Outstanding narration

This guy was the Forest Gump of gangsters, an Irishman in the inner circles of the Italian mob, connected not just to the assassination of the Teamsters President, but of the US President.

I Hear You Paint Houses was an awesome title.

The Title didn't need changing.

this is superbly written and the narrator is even better. I've done a ton of research on this topic and everything Frank says is right in line. He doesn't make himself out to be some big shot like some of these other mafia books. This is one of the better ones. This book in Mafia Prince are the two best books I've ever read. I like them best because they are written from the actual person and not from a third-party. I highly recommend this book to anyone who interested in Mafia or organized crime.
