Will be reading more by author!

I really enjoyed this book! Unlike some, I didn’t guess the ending right away so it kept me interested. I’ll definitely be reading more by this author. The reader was great as well. Her voice sort of reminded me of Nancy Drew and I used to love those computer games!

i

The Invitation: A psychological suspense thriller (Treacherous Trips Collection - Standalone Thrillers), my sixth amazing read from author N.L. Hinkens. I enjoyed the outstanding suspense storyline with its intricately woven twists and turns. In the opening pages, she quickly draws you in and makes you feel you’re familiar with the primary characters. Over the course of the book, you’re led to believe you’ve solved it but don’t believe it. Norma (N.L.) Hinkens is on my radar of great authors! Whitney Dykhouse's narration adds to the enjoyment of the book. I was given a Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

An extreme rollercoaster ride of a Thriller!

The Invitation, N. L. Hinkens latest addition to the Treacherous Trips Collection lives up to its billing as a thriller. It should also come with a warning label that reading this book might cause whiplash. I’m not sure when the last time I read a book that kept me off balance as I tried to confirm my belief who killed Tay. I’ve read several of N. L. Hinkens’ books and I’ve enjoyed all that I’ve read, however they all pale in comparison to The Invitation, this book in my opinion is the best of all the N.L. Hinkens books I’ve read. In November of 2022 I read an advance reader copy of The Invitation, and recently I received a review copy of the audiobook from the author. While I remembered most of the story from my reading, Whitney Dykhouse’s narration did an excellent job filling in all the blanks as well as bringing the story and each of the characters to life. While I love to read, there are times when having an excellent narrator read you a story is just as good. If your reading taste includes the thriller/psychological thriller genres I would seriously suggest you explore N. L. Hinkens’ book list, but make sure you read The Invitation!!!

struggle to finish.

It was hard to finish this audiobook. The narration was over dramatic for a book that was not that exciting.

Ridiculous

This was the most convoluted story I think I have ever heard. The author must have problems with strong woman and their spouses as the men represented every bad stereotype you’ve heard. The detectives were incompetent, the connections improbable, the motive preposterous. The person narrating must have been reading the book for the first time as her narration often didn’t match the descriptions of the tone the characters would have been expressing. Long, drawn out and absolutely ridiculous. Don’t waste your time or money.
