Publisher's summary

When I turn up on Whit’s doorstep, résumé in hand, I’m expecting an informal interview, not a honey-dripped seduction. But that doesn’t mean I won’t grab it with both hands…

My older brother’s best friend doesn’t recognize me. To him, I’m still the kid he sends a gift card to every Christmas. He doesn’t want to hear I spend them on fancy lingerie. Or that I dress up and fantasize about him.

He’s determined not to employ me. But I’m not just looking for a job but also an experience. The kind that only he can give.

I want our days to be full of secrets and our nights to be full of sin. For six whole blissful months. After that, everything will change.

I only hope that when the truth comes out, he can forgive me.

When your resume just doesn't matter!!

The Interview is a smoking hot story that starts great, then fizzles a bit for me. Amelia (Mimi) goes to London for 6 months to work and see all the sites. She shows up to interview with Leif Whittington (Whit) as his assistant. He is her late brother's best friend and doesn't recognize her at first. Things are pretty spicy with these two. There's angst, some age gap, the younger sister crush on brother's BFF, a smoke show in the bedroom (and the office, and the...you get it) all rolled up with a less than stellar ending. But still a pretty good story. Whit's family is hilarious which saved this one for me.

The narration was great! Aria Holland and Elliot Matthews are two new narrators for me and I was impressed. I'll definitely be looking out for them in the future. 5 star narration!

Good

Whit and Mimi have known each other since she was a young girl. Whit being her brother best friend. Skip to now when Mimi is all grown up and she still has a thing for Whit. She goes to London for six months want to explore she want to feel freedom after her brother past away and her life was to care for her family so when she leave her home she start to care for herself and put herself first. Whit is owner of a business and has no time for a relationship and when she goes for an interview she is mistaken for an escort. Mimi is hire to take over his old assistant job. Whit tries to be a gentleman and not become involved with Mimi but they're attracted to each other, they can't resist each other. There was a secret and a twist in this whole book. Whit's family is hilarious. Mimi's aunt Doreen is funny they all had me laughing. The spice in the book is hot.

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 This is my first read by this author and I’m smitten.
🤩 I cannot tell you the number of times I had a smile or a smirk on my face while listening to this book.
🤩 And this narrator team—what amazing audiobook entertainment!!
🤩 Aria Holland is so cute and playful as a voice actor—she makes the best Mimi (Amelia Valente).
🤩 You had me at London! And, what a treat to have Elliot Matthews’ gorgeous, okay hot, accent/voice tell us Whit’s part of the story (Leif Whittington). His dominating voice is extra pleasing.
🤩 The tropes: (deceased) Brother’s Best Friend , Age Gap, Billionaire, Workplace romance.
🤩 What a hot and totally captivating (later in life & it’s been many years) meet cute!
🤩 I just love how snarky, sassy, and tempting Mimi is in her flirtations with Whit.
🤩 The opposites attract banter between these two MCs is fantastic—gosh, I just love them.
🤩 Jealousy is so much fun as a microtrope romcoms! I especially appreciate it being from Whit’s brothers in this one.
🤩 Beautifully written physical attraction and secret pining.
🤩 So much steamy, lusty goodness and alpha daddy-ness!
🤩 I could listen to the dressing room scene on repeat.
🤩 One of my favorite parts/themes sneak peek: “Every year on my birthday, you send me a gift certificate. Every year since I turned eighteen, I’ve bought pantie$ with it.”

What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About:
💫 While this is a steamy romcom and there are some super fun and funny parts, there’s also a little miscommunication and a breakup—it hurt my heart. But, it’s all for the feels, to get us longing for them to be together. The plot is interesting.

Immediate spice and then slow burn

Brother's Best Friend • Age Gap • Billionaire romance • Spicy

Donna Alam is a new to me author and I loved this audiobook so much!

Be ready - as this one starts spicy hot out of the gate! Then, it takes a turn to slow burn.

I could feel the hints at something going on for our FMC and was waiting for that to drop. Oh goodness - when it goes, be ready.

The narrators - WOW! Both did phenomenal work for this book. Their characters are on point and they did their main chapter voices, plus side characters wonderfully! They are both new to me narrators and I’m excited to see what else they have done.

I received a copy of the audio from Home Cooked Books and listened to it through BookFunnel. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Spicy & Fun!

Ahh this book was so hot! 🥵 and it starts in the first chapter within the first 10 pages! It was amazing as it has age gap which is one of my all time favorite tropes.
I loved the dynamics between Whit and Mimi and the character growth for the two of them was fantastic!
The attraction between the two honestly started first for Mimi when she used to look up to him when she was a little girl as he was her brother’s best friend. Then when she was 24 she moved to London where Whit is owner of a business and she takes over his old assistant job. He wasn’t so sure he should have pursued her because since her brother past away he was suppose to protect her, but he came around and showed all of us how much of a sweetheart he could be to mimi. He honestly was so romantic drawn to her and he knew she was it for him.
And I loved the banter between all his siblings, and Mimi’s aunt Doreen they all had me laughing out loud. I did cry a couple times in the last 15% of the book for sad and happy tears 🥹.

Mimi and Whit!

I really enjoyed listening to this book, the dual narration by these two was really good. Amelia goes for an interview with her late brothers friend Whit and WOW what an interview. She is only in London for 6 months and wants to enjoy everything that freedom gives her. These two try really hard to not give in to their baser instincts but their chemistry and Amelia's need to experience life break down Whit's walls. This book has some very steamy kinky scenes, great dialogue and wonderful characters that kept me interested till the end.

I was sent a free audiobook from HCB and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

4 stars

This was pretty good for a billionaire workplace romance. The spice starting as soon as it did and then the buildup until the next time was great too. The whole forced proximity she's my best friends sister vibes was addicting.

The Interview

Narration: It would have been better had they kept the male voicing the man's dialog and the female voicing the woman's dialog. Neither of them were good at voicing the opposite sex. Cringe.
Story: I thoroughly enjoyed the story until I didn't. About 3/4 of the way through, Amelia started getting on my last nerve with all her indecisiveness and playing games. I don't know why authors insist on all the angsty inner dialog, neurotic female bull💩. It's annoying af. Spice level? Hmmmm...🌶🌶🌶
Overall: I'd recommend, but if you can hold out til you see it free, do so.

couldn't finish

This book was not for me. I know there are people out there that like calling a man daddy during sex but it makes my stomach turn. This book is 90% smut and 10% story. There wasn't enough of a plot to hold my interest and I became really bored. I was determined to finish the book and made it to chapter 34, but I just couldn't make it to the end.
