Publisher's Summary

In a ruined world, Manhattan is now New America, a walled-in society based on equality. But the perfect facade hides a dark truth.

A timid math geek, 16-year-old Drayden, watches his life crumble when his beloved mother is exiled. The mystery of her banishment leads him to a sinister secret: New America is in trouble, and every one of its citizens is in jeopardy.

With time running out, he enters the Initiation. It’s a test within the empty subway tunnels - a perilous journey of puzzles and deadly physical trials. Winners join the ruling Bureau and move to its safe haven. But failure means death.

Can Drayden conquer the Initiation, or is salvation out of his grasp?

Suitable ear candy

So, I'll admit that I really only purchased this because I saw it was narrated by Tyler Posey. I wasn't sure if it was "the" Tyler Posey but it only took 5 seconds of listening to it to recognize his voice. So if you're a Teen Wolf fangirl like me then either way it'll be worth a listen.

I ended up being pleasantly surprised. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a tale that'll stand the test of time, but it was interesting and different and held my attention. Scott... I mean Tyler... does read it a bit speedily and there is no, and I mean NO, change of dialect for different characters, but is still read with dramatic tone and inflection. All in all a suitable piece of ear candy.

Great book, great narrator

This book was one of the best sci-books I have read/heard.
Tyler Posey’s does the book kindly; voice relaxing and acts as a familiar sound from Scott.
