Do you want to successfully self-publish in eBook, print, or audiobook formats? There are thousands of new books being published every day, but many self-published books quickly sink to the bottom of the pile. Many people struggle throughout their lives, unable to identify the source of great inner existential discontent. No matter their material comfort or good fortune, they cannot escape the idea that they do not live the lives they ought to. They are not in environments that support their deepest personal growth and development. They are not the people they feel they are meant to be, and the world never works the way they know it could.

Learning how to write a book is easy. Learning how to write a book that doesn't suck and can actually make you money - and set you up for a full-time writing career is harder.
But it's nowhere near impossible. And it's far more doable than you can imagine. The trouble is, most books offering tips on how to write a book fail to address two key considersations: 1) Most self-published nonfiction books suck. 2) It's almost impossible to make a living from one self-published nonfiction book.

Publisher's Summary
Do you have something important to say? Are your knowledge and experience unique, valuable, and in demand? Do you want to write a book that changes the way people think and live?
By combining his experience as an educator and entrepreneur, author Gregory V. Diehl teaches passionate thinkers how to turn unique messages into profitable books - without sacrificing royalties or creative control to a publisher.

Whether you are an experienced author or have just started thinking about how to write a nonfiction book, The Influential Author will teach you about:
- Combining your passions and experience with demand to decide what book to write
- Organizing your knowledge into sections and chapters for maximum comprehension and flow
- Refining your book with feedback from editors, proofreaders, beta readers, and market testing
- Choosing a title, subtitle, description, and cover design that capture your message and create sales
- Pricing and promoting each format of your book (digital, print, and audio) for maximum revenue
- Enjoying lifelong passive income, influence, and meaning from your book’s success
Publishing a book could be one of the most meaningful things you ever do. Listen to The Influential Author to get started on your path to writing nonfiction books that matter.
Critic Reviews
"(Diehl) delivers a practical and encouraging guide to self-publishing nonfiction.... Though lengthy, Diehl's book can be quickly read and is crammed with practical ideas that readers will want to highlight and refer back to when they endeavor to write their own book." (Publishers Weekly)
"I appreciate Diehl's critical gaze and think that he has contributed a great many ideas to the conversation of publishing within this book. Diehl has a strong sense of the types of nonfiction books he wants to create and the readers who want to buy them." (Publishing Research Quarterly, Volume 36, Issue 4)
"Every year, there is at least one book that is a 'must read' for the aspiring writer seeking to have their manuscript become abook, and their book become successful. This year that 'how to' manual is Gregory V. Diehl's The Influential Author: How and Why to Write, Publish, and Sell Nonfiction Books that Matter.... A complete and comprehensive course that should be a part of every community, college, and university library Writing/Publishing instructional reference and resource collection." I just recommended this book to a friend and send him a link. That is the best compliment I can give because I rarely recommend books to anyone.
I have read several books on self-publishing and found this one to be not just the most helpful, but the most enjoyable to read as well. If authorship and publishing are of interest to you, you will enjoy this book.

Great sequence. Well-organized. Informative.
I felt that this book stands above similar titles. It is obvious that the author invested substantial time and effort to cover the relevant topics. Diehl acknowledges both the "intellectual" aspects (actual mechanics and logistics of publishing) and "inspirational" aspects ("Why do you write?" "Where are you wanting to go with this?"). A super discussion of scenarios of both success and failure,, what it might mean, and what to do about it---practical advice from an experienced writer who has been there, and the aspects of Indie writing/publishing..

#1 for writing & self-publishing nonfiction books
The Influential Author and its author were the greatest influence on me for finally writing and self-publishing my first book. That book is a professional guide in a difficult area of life based on my lifelong profession, and to my surprise there were virtually zero books about it on Amazon. That book has now been published (finally!) and is off to a great start on Amazon and we are bringing this much needed info to the public in a new format.
I don't think there is any greater guide available for the entire process, and I mean from the early stages of thinking and planning all the way through to publication day and everything that comes after. If you really read and take Gregory Diehl's advice to heart here, it will definitely change the way you think about nonfiction books and becoming an author. I cannot recommend it more. I am proud to include the hardcover on my bookshelf.
