Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Importance of Being Aisling by Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen, read by Amy McAllister.

Meet Aisling.

She's a country girl learning to love the city sophistication of unlimited Pinot Greej and brunch, though smashed avocado still mystifies her. She can plan anything, from Secret Santa for her ungrateful colleagues to a hen party for not one but two brides.

But even Aisling is thrown off course when her job and relationship suddenly go up in smoke.

Life in the city was supposed to be glamorous and grown-up, but all at once she's heading home to live with her mother. (Not without a detour to Vegas first - she's unemployed and single, not dead.)

But between making new friends and rivals, and finding her eye caught by a very handsome but very unavailable new man, going home is full of surprises. Could small town life actually hold the answers Aisling is missing?

Lovely light, well written tale!

I found this book to be very enjoyable. It’s light, higher quality than usual chic lit. The perfect palate cleanser between my usual dark crime fiction. The characters are well drawn and likeable. The narration is excellent, quite flawless.

Almost as good as the first one

I loved the first book Oh my God, What a complete Aisling because, while of course it was a tiny tad exaggerated to make it funnier, it really was such an authentic experience of a 25-30 something young professional female in Ireland. Made me yearn to rent a flat in Rathmines again, LOL. I like this one a little less because while it is still funny and adorable, it is much less believable and more made up drama. E.g. the windfall etc. dramatic events much less realistic than the previous book's break up with boyfriend etc. I preferred it when the events followed more an ordinary person's life, that's what appealed to me as that has plenty of interest too. Still a great book, had some great laughs, great turns of phrase, and by far one of the best narrators I have ever heard. Can't wait to get the next instalment as soon as it comes out.

As good if not better than the first book

I loved every chapter. I was so engrossed just such a charming, funny story I found myself laughing out loud. The narration was perfect. Disappointed I have finished it. Keen for there to be another in the series.

Heart Warming

Part of the attraction is being immersed in BGB/Dublin culture & dialect & the other part is how kind & full of heart Aisling is. I am rooting for her all the way through. Hope the series continues.

Excellent

Very much enjoyed this 2nd book and Aislings further adventures. Great narration, although the voice she uses for "Sive" is a little irritating. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book.

Oh Aisling!

OMG .... There is a little /a lot of Aisling’s characteristics & quirks in every country Irish girl; we can all identify with her. Let’s be honest, though; this book is all about Aisling! She has developed with us, grown with us and matured with us.
She is our friend, our mammy, our country girl colleague and our notions Dublin housemate. She is a genuine reflection of the modern Irish woman, and we love her.
Can’t wait for the film!!!

Well written, funny and fast paced

Really enjoyed this second book. It reminds me of so many
Girls I have known that over the years. If your Irish or lived in Ireland you would find it hilarious as it’s based on a country girl and what she gets up to in her hometown in Ireland. Defo worth listening too for a few laughs and a good storyline.

Feel good story with laughs along the way.

Just love the honesty and simplicity of this series. The Irish sayings and slang are a delight. I love Aisling and her approach in life. My neighbours think I’m losing my mind as I stand outside watering the garden laughing out loud. They can’t see I am listening to the audiobook.

Look forward to the rest of the stories in this series.

Colossal waste of time

I don’t know how this is getting good reviews. Perhaps people enjoy empty stories where nothing is deep and nothing happens. Yeh this was not great. First book was better.

Great Craic!

Loved it!

Laughed, cried and laughed again. Would make anyone "out foreign" want to jump on the next plane home to Ireland in a second!
