Publisher's summary

The number-one New York Times best-selling author of the Vampire Academy and Bloodline series returns with the second installment in her acclaimed Age of X series.

Gameboard of the Gods introduced religious investigator Justin March and Mae Koskinen, the beautiful supersoldier assigned to protect him. Together they have been charged with investigating reports of the supernatural and the return of the gods, both inside the Republic of United North America and out. With this highly classified knowledge comes a shocking revelation: Not only are the gods vying for human control, but the elect - special humans marked by the divine - are turning against one another in bloody fashion.

Their mission takes a new twist when they are assigned to a diplomatic delegation headed by Lucian Darling, Justin's old friend and rival, going into Arcadia, the RUNA's dangerous neighboring country. Here, in a society where women are commodities and religion is intertwined with government, Justin discovers powerful forces at work, even as he struggles to come to terms with his own reluctantly acquired deity.

Meanwhile, Mae - grudgingly posing as Justin's concubine - has a secret mission of her own: finding the illegitimate niece her family smuggled away years ago. But with Justin and Mae resisting the resurgence of the gods in Arcadia, a reporter's connection with someone close to Justin back home threatens to expose their mission - and with it the divine forces the government is determined to keep secret.

Sooo upset

I was so invested in this book and these characters and the second books leaves you hanging just to find out there isn’t a third. I love richelle mead and I always love when Emily Shaffer narrates. The end of this book is jaw dropping but I need an ending to the series.

Once again finishing this series for the 4 th time waiting for book 3 I'm going crazy. These books are extreme genius! The characters are original & intense everything about this series is exciting & edgy. I love the way the gods are picking players & setting earths stage. I love all the different pantheons coming known I am really looking forward to the Eye of andromeda

So good!

This book is excellent and the series needs finished!

I think some people were turned off by the world building in book one. It wasn’t slow by any means, but it was a little confusing as things were not explicitly explained until later in the novel. That being said everything came together beautifully and this series is SO MUCH BETTER than the glittering court. The third books needs its day in the sun! What a fantastic cliff hanger.

Another 5 extra stars for Richelle!

This series has exceeded my expectations. This dystopian not so far fetch future is easily imaginable with our media driven society. Can't wait for the next one.

FANTASTIC STORY LINE. EXCELLENT WRITER. WELL PERFORMED.

Justin and Mae are still facing problems with their romance. Justin are determined to prevent their bonding which is making Mae very unhappy. I find it frustrating too but that's what make the story interesting. Besides their dilemma they are also have to face enemies out to kill them. Is plot has it all, intrigues, politics, gods, humans and other supernatural season. Excellent. The only complain is book three is not out yet!! I hope it will come out ASAP!
