Publisher's summary

When the hunters become the hunted, ex-CIA agent Jed Walker is the man you need.

In 2011, Seal Team Six killed Osama Bin Laden. Now, four years later, someone is eliminating Team Six - one by one they are turning up dead. Jed Walker, ex-CIA, is an outsider back in the game. He's been chasing down a sinister group code-named Zodiac that the big guns - MI5, CIA, the Pentagon - have failed to eradicate. But as Walker follows the trail of bodies, uncovering secrets and making connections he's not supposed to make, he finds the answers are closer to home than he ever imagined. Revenge is the obvious motive, but nothing is ever that simple in love or in war. Can Walker find who's responsible before the body count grows higher? Can he stop another terror attack before more innocent bystanders suffer?

When the line between the good and the bad becomes blurred, when the hunters become the hunted, only one man can save us all.

The Hunted is the second Jed Walker novel - a white-knuckled roller coaster of action suspense.

James Phelan is the best-selling and award-winning author of 28 novels and one work of nonfiction. From his teens he wanted to be a novelist but first tried his hand at a real job, studying and working in architecture before turning to English literature, spending five years at a newspaper and obtaining an MA and a PhD in literature. For Hachette Australia, James has written five titles in the Lachlan Fox thriller series and the Alone trilogy of young adult postapocalyptic novels.

The ex-CIA character of Jed Walker was first introduced in The Spy, which was followed by The Hunted, Kill Switch and Dark Heart. James has also written a 14-book adventure series for Scholastic, titled The Last Thirteen. He has been a full-time novelist since the age of 25 and spends his time writing thrilling stories and travelling the world to talk about them.

Great Unpredictable Adventure

Book 2 of Jed Walker Series had me re-listening to parts because I couldn't believe what I just heard. Twists and turns of who done it.

Jed has become the man!

Jed was a greenie in Book 1, and only saved by 3 contacts who happened to be around. Now it is 10 years later, he has graduated even from the CIA, so his skills are now top notch and he needs nobody's help. This story is exciting and well done.

I understand that the audio for this book is done in Australia, but it is still weird to have an Aussie narrate a so very American tale. He pronounces Ft. Detrick with a short e, as in debt, but I always heard the Army folk call it Deetrick. They could be wrong.

There are more than 4 editing errors, where the narrator mispronounced some word and it was re-recorded, but we get to hear both the correct and the wrong, so Audible Australia needs to up its professionalism.

Despite this accent disconnect, Jed has matured and honed his skills to the point where we will continue to follow his exploits!

may be better than the first.

Good follow up to the spy with a compelling story and new heroes. Jed keeps up being a kick bu** hero.

I like the narrator

It had been awhile since I listened to him. Some said they did not like the language he uses, boot instead of trunk, etc. I did not mind it. Overall I enjoy the storyline and the distraction from real life.

Likable Characters with Lots of Action

The plot is pretty good and there are a few twists I didn't see coming. The characters are well developed and likable. What prevented this from getting 5 stars were a few whiplash moments when our protagonist Jed Walker after playing so many things so smart, makes a really dumb mistake or after a long and complicated pursuit the ending seems odd - it doesn't fit well. It is a good story and over all I enjoyed listening to it, but the book is missing a smoothness that some authors have achieved that would earn it 5 stars.

best yet

Author is getting better and better in detail and plot. A Mulraney does a fantastic job of narration.

Z2

Surprisingly good series and strong characters. Love the Zodiac theme and promise of an extended and exciting storyline. Dad Walker is a very nice touch. Stating #3.

Author is not a sports fan

St Louis Cardinals played his hometown Eagles??? How does a baseball team play a football team.

Needs American Inout

Reader does a good American accent, but fails to pronounce several words correctly. The most annoying is when ready helo, typically pronounced -heelo- this reader goes with -hello- DISTRACTING.

Good story, but again, poor performance

I went ahead and got this second book because I enjoyed the first story and wanted to see where he took the Zodiac attacks. Again, the performance left much to be desired. Story was interesting and thrilling in parts.
