Wanda Petronski is different from all the other girls in Room 13. Every day she wears the same faded blue dress to school, and every day she tells about her hundred dresses at home. Her classmates joke about her imaginary clothes - until they learn the wonderful secret of the dresses.

One of my childhood favorites

I loved this sweet and sad little story as a child, and it still resonates. It will encourage anyone to be kinder to others who may e or seem to be "different".

Sweet Children's Book - stands test of time.

I read this book last night based on another's review and I am very glad that I did. It is a sweet children's book that was written 70 years ago but which holds up to the test of time. It touches on the very difficult subject of bullying and allows children to see that differences make others interesting. This book won the Newberry Award in 1945 and I believe it could still win the award if released today. There is an excellent review written by Brina, and I will not try to do what she did so well. I simply want to state that if I had a young child today, this book would be one we read starting tonight.
