Publisher's summary

Every desperate housewife wants an alias. Donna Stone has one - and it happens to be government-sanctioned.

But Donna earned it the hard way: Her husband was killed the day she delivered their third child.

To avenge her husband's murder, Donna leads a secret life as an assassin.

But espionage makes for strange bedfellows, and brings new meaning to that old adage, "Honey, I'm home...."

Perfection! Enthusiastic 5-Stars

Josie Brown's accomplished skills as a writer are on display in this exciting suburban mystery. Strong central characters, compelling incident to launch the story, twists at every turn. There's humor, romance, and intrigue in this page-turning tale of a housewife-turned-assassin. While taking on the evil Quorum, Donna struggles to reconcile competing feelings of love for the man she lost and the man she found while also feeling motherly concern for the safety of her children. The whole town's involved in this delightful journey through pies, baseball, carpooling, and yes, assassins, moles, and terrorism. I will be reading/listening to every book that Josie Brown writes. Fabulous job by the narrator. Fabulous!

The housewife Assassins handbook

I really enjoyed this story, laughed so much and was surprised at the same time. As a housewife myself I lead a very boring life.

I enjoyed the book

I love the book I thought it was very funny and exciting action packed most memorable event was in the very thought the very beginning but without giving away too much but what happened when the lady was some pulling someone with handcuffs it was kind of terrifying in exciting at the same time and the narrator was great I'm glad I bought it I didn't expect it to be any good at all but I'm so glad I listened to it because I it's winter

Not for me

This is less of an action story and more of a romance story instead. The premise is cute, and the narrator hits the tone and inflections spot on. I'm not entertained very much by Stepford-Wives-type situations, and the graphic sex narration seemed a little unnecessary. So overall, it's not a series I'm going to pursue, but it wasn't a wasted listen.

this was such a fun book.

fun book is maybe a weird description but it was so good and the beginning of every chapter with the music, I just wanted more. I can't wait to get to book 2.

CHEEEEESY Terrible narration

Story was o.k. but the narrator was terrible. Almost distractingly awful. The cheesy musical notes were annoying. Sorry. Not a fan.

A lively narration!

The plot was a little predictable, but it was presented in a fresh, fun fashion to keep me engaged. Loved the narration to add humor & vitality to the story. As a huge fan of Anne Taintor, I absolutely LOVE each chapter's opening wit. I can imagine so many lines of this put on a retro 50s magnet, like the Father's Day "Note: save the rat poison for another day." I could also see Donna as having a "Stop me before I volunteer again" mug or "I wish I was a unicorn" magnet.

Super!

suspense, satire, humor, assassins, widow, family-dynamics, action-adventure

What can a young widow with 3 children under 7 do to make money and (sort of) avenge her husband's murder? Become a government assassin. Crazy tongue-in-cheek series of adventures with each prefaced by a household tip. Gets a little hairy sometimes, but nice escapism.
The narrator performed quite well.

Good story

This book has a different story line than a lot of the bold on this genre. I would have gone worth 5 starts except that I found the story a little dry. Not much emotion.

Satire, love it!

I was not sure what to expect. It started off very corny but I grew to enjoy the story once I accepted that it was what it was, a satire.
