Critic reviews

"Wise, funny and touching, this is a portrait of friendship, customs and folklore of Ireland; but what stays with you is harder to catch, like smoke or running water. It is the taste of something we all once knew, ever-present if only you look for it. Completely enchanting." (Joanna Lumley)
"Wonderful, and beautifully read. This is the hidden Ireland." (Alice Taylor)
"A beautiful book in touch with the deepest, lasting bonds between woman and man." (Frank McGuinness)
"Poetic, but not showy, finely honed but easy and unforced, descriptive and evocative." ( Irish Independent)

I just finished listening to this lovely book, narrated by the author herself, Ms Felicity Hayes-McCoy and I just want to hug her ❤️ What a joy to sit at her side and listen to her story. I have always felt a connection to Ireland and her historical antidotes, folklore, and her real life trials and tribulations mixed with joy of taking a plunge into a long held dream were so inspiring! Thank, thank you, thank you ❤️❤️❤️

I started reading this memoir on kindle on my way to Ireland front the US for vacation. Instantly fell in love with Felicity and her story. I’m only sad that I didn’t finish the book until after we left Dingle & the West coast bc I would have gone to more places she mentioned. Turns out we did go to many places she mentioned and loved it all! Highly recommended read - then go visit!

I love it when they author of a book is also it narrator and this delightful book is. Felicity Hayes-McCoy lends her soft Irish lilt to telling of her and her husband's story of the restoration of a cottage in Ireland.
