Publisher's summary

An old house, a secret heartbreak, a second chance at love.

Lizzie Greene is about to lose everything when her husband suddenly dies and his debts come to light.

To make ends meet she opens up her quirky old house to be used as a set for a film based on a bestselling romance novel.

Her life and household are turned upside down when a whole cast of colourful characters enters her family's lives: from an enigmatic author, a handsome location scout, a brooding director, to a heart-throb leading man, never mind her now ex-mother-in-law camped out in her drive.

As Lizzie delves deeper into the film's book, all is not as it seems...

Will her desire to save her house and unravel the secrets of the past lead to new love, or to mortal danger?

A must-read for summer - a heartwarming story of love and second chances. Perfect for the fans of Jane Costello and Lucy Dillon.

Putting the past to bed

First, Olivia Dowd does a marvelous job communicating tone in this work. Good voices/characterizations for major characters though sometimes drops ball on minor ones (some misc. workers were male but sounded female). I like the pacing of the book and the cast of characters from house owner/lawyer/betrayed wife Lizzie to the others: quirky MIL & spouse, author, director, & children. I also like the premise of the book and the unraveling of the mysteries. All that made this a worthwhile read. As much as I love a little romance and HEA, I had a harder time getting my head around the romance between Luke and Lizzie. Lizzie spends the entire first third of the book being disgusted and disliking Luke. There is nothing really believable that happens to make her change of heart understandable. Further, the entire interaction with the film crew utilizing her home seems pretty unrealistic to me. That said, I give authors much latitude on the suspending disbelief aspect of fiction, but I expect others won't.
