A house that shouldn’t exist.
A preacher who cannot escape.
A town swallowed by silence.

When Reverend Matthew Hale takes a wrong turn on a stormy night, he stumbles into Lee Hollow, a forgotten town with a secret it refuses to let go. At its heart stands a towering Victorian mansion, alive with whispers, shadows, and something far older than brick and wood.

The neon sign out front declares No Vacancy, but the truth is far more terrifying—once you enter, the house never lets you leave.

Haunted by his faith and plagued by visions, Hale must unravel the mansion’s mystery before the walls themselves close in. But in Lee Hollow, every window hides an eye, every hallway conceals a voice, and every prayer is met with silence.

Step inside The House Beyond the Silence—if you dare.

What makes this audiobook stand out is its strong focus on character and mood. The author creates an environment that feels vividly alive, where even silent moments carry weight and meaning. You never know what might lurk around the next corner or what a character’s motivations might truly be, which keeps the suspense engaging without relying solely on jump scares. It’s a great pick for anyone who loves atmospheric thrillers with resonant character work.

This is a slow-burn piece that relies heavily on mood and atmosphere. Simmons wastes no time building his unsettling setting of isolation and creeping madness mixed with faith and fear. By chapter two, you’re being drawn into Lee Hollow alongside Reverend Matthew Hale as he desperately tries to escape the town. It’s frozen in time and dripping with secrets. As much as Hale wants to leave, he’s fighting against his own spirituality and sanity which only added to the realism for me.

Woody does a fantastic job narrating this story. He kept the same steady and slightly repressed tone throughout that only added to the story's eerieness. If you enjoy haunted towns, lingering tension, and chilling horror that likes to crawl under your skin, give this one a listen.

This totally pulled me in right from the start. The atmosphere was eerie without being overdone, and the narrator really brought the tension to life. I found the idea of a preacher stuck between worlds both unsettling and thought-provoking. The story kept me curious all the way through, and it left me thinking about it long after it ended.

Amazing! slow building with a great mysterious edg

If you enjoy stories that take their time, this one is incredibly rewarding. The pacing allows the mood to settle in. I felt immersed in the setting, almost as if I were trapped there too, sharing the same stillness and uncertainty.

I didn’t expect this to linger with me the way it did. I listened late at night, and that was probably a mistake because the silence in it feels heavy. The isolation, the doubts, the slow unraveling really pulled me in. It’s not fast or flashy, but it made me think a lot about belief, loneliness, and what happens when your world shrinks.
