Publisher's Summary

This provocative audiobook invites you to create your own spiritual path based on often-suppressed ancient principles and contemporary practices. Using the elements (earth, water, fire, air, ether) rather than traditional patriarchal hierarchies, this "holy book" is designed to connect each individual to their universal - but often denied - powers.

Wild woman Danielle Dulsky takes you deep as she explores and embraces sacred feminine archetypes such as the mother goddess, the crone, and the maiden. Join her as she guides you to envision and explore a world that enriches and supports your spirit, body, and mind as well as our global community and the earth.

If you dislike Christianity in a Non Obsessive Way then this is NOT the book for you!

If you dislike Christianity in a non obsessive way then this book is NOT for you!
I listened to the book half way through and stop because I was tried about hearing about all the rebel bible characters!
I’m pagan for f@&$ sakes!
Yeah I grew up in a strict Christian mother but even I’m not obsessing and looking towards rebel bible characters for inspiration in my life.
If Christian references don’t drive you nuts then you might enjoy the book.
Otherwise I just feel like the author is proclaiming straying away from her Christian faith just for the spite of it.

Good and Bad, we got both here!

Overall: 3/5⭐ would recommend

Cons:
The poetic language was excessive and hard to get through at times. I feel like if the flowerly language was cut down on, the book could be half the size it is
She calls the reader "my love" so often and it's really a turn off
As a heathen/pagan, it was tiresome how often she related things to Christianity
I'd say half to 3/4 of the rituals I more or less disregarded entirely. Some however I do want to try and can see the use in

Pros:
The language was beautiful still and the voice really "made it"
A lot of the things she brought up really made me think (not all I agreed with, not all I disagreed with but all I had something to "say" about). Overall, the book always made me pause to really think about something or feel one way or another
There are a few journal prompts I'm inclined to actually do
Where a lot of the book relates back to figures in Christianity, its easy enough to substitute a different figure or archetype in and still have the same "point" (really, still more of a Con tho..)
She hit on so many issues within feminism including death which I feel too often gets overlooked completely
There are rituals included for both solitary and group practices
The appendix is seems useful. I haven't read any other books recommend, but quite a few titles peaked my interest.

Too poetic to enjoy(?)

The content is good(?) -hard to tell. It’s just too poetic for my taste to actually follow? I don’t mind the narration, and I actually thought it was refreshing to hear a narrator woman without the same soft feminine voice you always hear.
She also calls the reader “my love” literally almost after every other sentence which is annoying/distracting.... almost like having someone younger then you call you “hun”....

Disappointed and left feeling confused

The Clarissa Pinkola Estes of Witchcraft

When I first began reading The Holy Wild: A Heathen Bible for the Untamed Woman I quickly became enamored with it. Danielle Dulsky's words are beautifully poetic and strikingly powerful. The book has a feel reminiscent of the work of Clarissa Pinkola Estés (who is one of my favorite Jungian authors) but from the perspective and insight of a modern witch. While written for a female audience, I feel every witch regardless of gender can benefit from the wisdom within these pages. Dulsky guides the reader through poetry, storytelling, rituals, prayers, and spells to uncover and reawaken one's connection with the divine feminine and find it within themselves.

The book is divided into sections based on the four primordial elements that compose reality from an esoteric point of view - Earth, Air, Fire, and Water along with the quintessence of Ether that runs through and unites all elements. As such, Dulsky shares her cosmological view of this divine reality that we're living within and seemingly uses each element to help the reader re-compose themselves into a holy heathen where battle scars and shadows are as sacred as the brightest light within us. As a witch author, the book is written as a radical battle roar for self-love and feminist empowerment to make magick of one's own life; a call for authenticity instead of approval; self-sovereignty instead of obedience; deep connection instead of repression and rejection. If that isn't the heart witchcraft, I'm not sure what is. After reading this book, I'm definitely checking out her previous book Woman Most Wild: Three Keys to Liberating the Witch Within.

tough to get through.

I was so excited for the first about 1.5 hours. hearing the stories of lillith and other goddesses was amazing. but I soon realized it felt repetitive with the "my love" and "unbridled maiden" being said so so often. it would be amazing to hear all the stories and then all the spells. I have the physical book. but listening just got to hard as it repeated over and over.

No words

I am not a cunning enough word witch to verbalize my thoughts, feelings nor emotions after listening to this for the second time. Danielle is a true gift and her ability to twist and bring to life what she speaks is remarkable and leaves me yearning for more! 💕

heading optional but required lol

First half of the book is just hyping up the content, describing how great it is then finally starts and guess what, it sucks. I was very disappointed because this was recommended to me.

Wild and wonderful!

This book spoke to me from the beginning. Danielle's writing and voice is completely enchanting. It really opens up a world of goddess and elemental connections to provide the listener with the tools and the knowledge to create a holy wild magically filled life. Thank you.

The call to active healing we most need!

A poetic, dynamic reclamation of the devine and wild feminine as a process of personal and spiritual growth and healing - and a call to redress the devastating consequences patriarchy has had on humanity and nature. Read this and reconnect with you innate power. A gift!

Love Love Love!

I Love Danielle Dulsky. I love her books and I love that she reads this! So empowering, soothing, invigorating. I bought a paper copy to help me with the tasks/rituals, but you'll also be just fine with the audio. I have listened in its entirety once and am listening to my favourite bits over and over again. I just bought seasons of moon and flame which I am also thoroughly enjoying, and I have the holy wild which I haven't fully got into yet, but only due to lack of time

I absolutely loved every second of this book, well everything about it really. The Author, her reading, the message and the exercises. Incredible read. Thank you so much for sharing it all with us Danielle! I will be back, many times, I'm sure!
