Publisher's Summary

They call him the Demon Highlander. The fearsome Lieutenant Colonel Liam MacKenzie is known for his superhuman strength, towering presence, and fiery passion in the heat of battle. As laird to the MacKenzie clan, the undefeated marquess has vanquished his foes with all the rage and wrath of his barbaric Highland ancestors. But when an English governess arrives to care for his children, the master of war finds himself up against his greatest opponent...in the game of love.

Defying all expectations, Miss Philomena is no plain-faced spinster but a ravishing beauty with voluptuous curves and haughty full lips that rattle the laird to his core. Unintimidated by her master's raw masculinity and savage ways, the headstrong lass manages to tame not only his wild children but the beast in his soul. With each passing day, Liam grows fonder of Miss Mena - and more suspicious. What secret is she hiding behind those emerald eyes? What darkness brought her to his keep? And how can he conquer this magnificent woman's heart...without surrendering his own?

Great series - hoping there is more to come!

Any additional comments?

This is the third book in the series, all are excellent alone and outstanding as a series. There is more coming in print PLEASE bring them to Audible too! Amazing strong men who have a weakness for strong but soft women. The characters you love come back in the each story, weaving a continuous tale. Romance, humor, passion, and a scared past with dark secrets all come together in these books in perfect harmony. Perkns brings the characters alive with his consistent narration. He does a suburb job of men, women, and children's voices. Not too predictable, the stories have a few twists and suprises. Byrne's lyrical discriptions are unique in romance novels. She paints a picture of emotions--just sit still and enjoy.

A Fabulous Read and a Wondrous Listen

Would you consider the audio edition of The Highlander to be better than the print version?

I absolutely adorer this audio edition. I find that when I listen, I catch more than having read the written word. Maybe it's the inflection of the emphasis on certain things. Just so good!

What other book might you compare The Highlander to and why?

Of course this book it a perfect follow up to The Highwayman and The Hunter

What about Derek Perkins’s performance did you like?

Mr. Perkins is PERFECT for Kerrigan Byrne's characters. He has an innate understanding of them

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Sheer Brilliance

Delectable Perfection

Kerrigan Byrne's writing becomes more irresistible with each book. The narrator of this book kept me captivated and willing as I shirked all other duties and surrendered my full attention to this heartbreakingly beautiful love story. Prepare yourself for The Demon Highlander!

The Highlander

Loved just loved this Audible the love the secrets but,it felt like the children in the story kinda took a back seat at the end...it's like the author wanted to finish quickly and forgot about all the characters she had invented. I have listened to this series 2X now nice very nice love the blackness of the men the dark haunting in the characters. Ok now I have something to say to Audible : in the romance package you let us get into a series; book 1'2'3 to make us buy the last 2 to finish....NOT COOL. It makes me not get into some books just because that...this series is not the only one Audible has done this.

Another great one from KB

Narrator: Derek Perkins does a great job as usual on these books.

Really liked this one. This series is pretty good. Love the bad boys gone good ((Well not really good but how they care for their women and kids) in each of these.
The very last part of this book was GREAT!
Love how characters from the earlier books come and lend a hand at the end.

Highland Novel Without So Much Blood and Gore!

If you could sum up The Highlander in three words, what would they be?

Very Unusual Concept

Have you listened to any of Derek Perkins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Derek Perkins is a great narrator for Highlanders and British. He is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Any additional comments?

I love series books and that is why I purchased this one. I hope to read more in this series.

Definitely worth the credit

New author for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story held my attention from beginning to end. So glad to see her husband get his come-upance.

Good story, adequate narration.

Unlike many other reviewer's opinions about the narrator, there are British accents I like better. This narrator sounds like a snooty butler to me even for the characters of Dorian and Christopher. Since they primarily grew up in the Newgate prison system, I would expect them to have a rougher accent, maybe Cockney, not so plummy. However, he does have good inflection and differeniates the characters well.

As far as the writing goes, I really liked this novel. I also liked "The Highwayman", the first story I read by this author but not "The Hunter" which I DNF. I simply found Christopher too cold and irredeemable to invest in his character. His enjoyment of his murderous expertise and mercenary concern for recompense involving those murders was so unappealing to me. At least he later worked for the police and quit takin pay for his marks. Therefore it was with some reservation that I downloaded this publication and was glad I did. I enjoyed Liam's constant love and abiding faith in Mina. Another thing I can appreciate about this writer's tales is that they are not SOS but rather each quite different. So now that I am 2 out of 3, I look forward to more of the author's works in the future.

Great series horrible cover art.

I hate to say I am heavily influenced by cover art but these are really terrible. I love all the Scottish brogues but could have been sexier. Favorite hero so far.
