Publisher's Summary

On average, we spend around six years of our lives dreaming. Yet, astonishingly, few of us understand the purpose of dreams and even fewer recognise what our dreaming mind can tell us about ourselves and our world.

In The Hidden Lives of Dreams, Melinda Powell, psychotherapist and co-founder of the Dream Research Institute UK, reveals how we can better understand our dreams and how doing so can improve our waking lives.

As well as examining the importance of sleep and dreams, Powell explores the role of light, colour, landscapes, space, healing presence and lucidity in dreams, dispels common misconceptions and addresses our fears of nightmares. We are shown how to tap in to our dreams as a source of guidance and inspiration to enhance our well-being and to discover a healthier, more balanced approach to life.

Wake up to a world of dreams

This is a wise and moving book, written in a readable yet well-researched style by Melinda Powell and narrated with seriousness and warmth by Jennifer Woodward. Powell brings together the threads of personal, psychological and spiritual perspectives and global concerns and shows how paying attention to our dreams can weave them together to create deep meaning. Drawing on her work as a psychotherapist and researcher as well as her personal experience she shows not only how the wisdom of dreams illuminates our personal and collective problems, she offers guidance on how to pay attention to, learn from, and welcome the transformative power of our dreams. This book is required reading for anyone who has ever awakened curious, moved or awed by a dream.

Informative and a great listen

What I liked about this book was that it addressed dreams and dream research from different viewpoints. It included mentions of fascinating dream research, but maybe of most interest was hearing how the author works with the bizarre and beautiful content of dreams.
The emotional life of dreams and the more science based information and brought together in this audiobook.
Very easy listen. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Not what it says on the title

3 chapters in and still nothing is registering... it’s all to academic and based one persons experience. Very disappointing
