In games of betrayal, everyone loses.

Arlo and Drienne are ‘mades’—clones of company executives, deemed important enough to be saved should their health fail. Mades work around the clock to pay off the debt incurred by their creation, though most are Reaped—killed and harvested for organs when their corporate counterparts are in medical need.

But when the impossible happens and the too-big-to-fail company that owns them collapses, Arlo and Drienne find themselves purchased by a scientist who has a job for them.

The reward: Debt paid off, freedom from servitude, and enough cash to last a lifetime.
The job: Infiltrate a highly secure corporate reclamation facility in the heart of dead London, and steal a data drive.

They’re going to need a team.

Robson is one of the few really creative science fiction authors writing today. This held my attention the whole way through, which is somewhat rare for me when reading/listening to fiction these days.

My second Robson book--even better than the first

Totally unnecessarily the author assigns one of the characters the they/them pronoun even though it makes no difference to the overall story what gender the person is.

What it does do is cause momentary confusion when the person is escaping with and interacting with others and I was constantly taken out of the story trying to figure out if they (singular) or they (plural) were doing this thing or another.

It wasn’t bad until the final chapters when this person’s presence was more prominent, and I was constantly taken out of the very interesting story to make these quick assessments.

Otherwise it is a unique story. Good listen

The pronoun gimmick became annoying
