Publisher's summary

In the final installment of USA Today bestselling author Christi Caldwell's Sinful Brides series, a runaway heiress entrusts her fate to the man she betrayed.

Lady Eve Pruitt has never forgotten her childhood friend, the young pickpocket Calum, who she feared had been condemned to the gallows. Now, years later, Eve is the one in danger. Her brother, made desperate by gambling debts, threatens to steal her inheritance, and Eve has no choice but to run.

Under an assumed name, she takes a job as a bookkeeper at the notorious Hell and Sin Club. Nothing in this bawdy den shocks her more than discovering that her employer is none other than Calum. Keeping her identity a secret is one thing - but hiding her feelings for him is another.

As Calum becomes increasingly taken with the strangely haunting beauty, he looks forward to exposing her mysteries. But when her masquerade is revealed, it's left to Eve to prove that her desire for him is no deception.

The Heiress's Deception

What's this the 4th in the Sin and Hell don't understand why it's more money than the first 3 but U gotta read it to get the end of the story to make sense. I was at the edge of my seat a couple of times the brother is a brute and it's sad to hear of abuse but the man of the hour is a hero. Enjoy

Wonderful Reunion

Christi Caldwell has produced a moving story of two children who became friends, are ripped apart by an evil person then are reunited as adults. Lovely, emotional story set in the Hell and Sin Club. Tim Campbell you take me away to a different world every time.

Great storytelling!!!!!!

Christi, I quite enjoyed the entire series. It is disgusting how we have treated our children in the past and frightening how we continue to do so today. Great twist on fate, that boys from the bottom of the foodchain would do well and enter the “nobility”. Loved the storylines. Great imagery and characters.
I feel like there is one more story to tell though; Aaron’s story. He deserves a place in this history.

Tim Campbell was the perfect narrator. Tim you truly brought the characters to life. Great job on characterization and accents. Thank you 😊

Excellent, sensual, listening

I’m in love with these characters in all of Christi Caldwell’s books, especially the Sinful Brides. In this ‘The Heiress’s Deception’ Book 4....first start with Book 1 & continue...the characters are as always a continuation of each book, well the ones from the ‘Gamers Hell’. Those men are delicious! I mean how do you describe these men who love these women..it’s not just the sex, since it’s only once...it’s the way they think of each other & the love..it really is a fabulous listening.

As far as Book 4 story, it wasn’t as fabulous as the others. It didn’t seem to have that wow factor as the others, but there would be no way I wouldn’t have not listened.

As my final entry. I truly hope I can hear Tim Campbell in every historical novel..what a voice!! I wish I could give him 10 ⭐️⭐️ he can make any listener blush...turn any woman on..and still finish a book! He’s fabulous! Plus his accent (Scotch in this book) are on target next to his beautiful British accent..I adore listening to him as I do Michael Page..can I have you both over for dinner? 💋💋
Thanks for a great listening & great series...👍👍

Best of the series!

Loved the characters, Eve and Callum! They both came fm such hardship and heartbreak, but were still such good people. Sweet romance, a little heat, great story. Narration was perfect.

** Surprised this was listed as final book of series. What about Adair? We can’t leave him all alone. lol

VERY WELL DONE NARRATION WAS VERY GOOD!!

The Heiress's Deception is another very good story in the Sinful Brides series. This is the story of Calum Dabney one of the Partners of the Hell and Sin Club and the Eve Pruitt sister of the Duke of Bedford. Eve's brother is evil and desolate reprobate who has gambled the entire family fortunes and property's away. Now he is after Eve's Dowry which is very large. So he has one of his friends try to rape Eve and force her into marriage, so they can split her dowry. Eve managers to bash her assailant over the head and escapes. But her brother is determine to steal her inheritance, so Eve leaves and becomes the new accountant at the Hell and Sin Club. Calum knew Eve when he was a young street urchin and a member of the Dickery Gang. But in her disguise he doesn't know who she is. But she recognized the young boy who had once been her only friend. Calum had been stabbed after trying to steal Befords purse and his friend who is the young Eve goes and gets her brother to help him. No knowing he is the one who stabbed her young friend Calum Instead he has Calum taken to Newgate to be hanged. Seventeen (17) years later Eve has shows up at his club seeking the job of Accountant. Calum doesn't recognize her but she knows who he is. Her Young friend whom she thought dead.

The story is about Secrets and Lies of Star Crossed Lovers that get there HEA!! Very Well Done!!

Best for Last?

Comments on the series: I listened to all four of the Sinful Brides books in less than a week, one right after the other – popped ‘em like popcorn! The first, to me, was the weakest of the series and they each got increasingly better with every succession. After finishing the second book, I was sold and immediately bought the on-sale kindle books and then audio/whispersync versions because it cost less to buy both versions paired at the time. I would still recommend listening to the first book to get a little background and for completion’s sake – but if you really want to skip it, start with the second, The Scoundrel’s Honor. The third and fourth are my favorites of the series, and I will be re-listening to them in the near future.

The somewhat taboo pairings between people working/living in the gaming hell and the aristocracy is a commonly found trope in regency romance, however I found Caldwell’s take of this dynamic to be interesting and her characters in this series and in particular, this book, were great. The Heiress’s Deception is a good blend of light entertainment and drama. It’ll tug at those heart strings a bit at times, but won’t leave you depressed or too despondent at any point. The love scenes are not overly graphic or long, but are pleasant and steamy enough to add in some excitement.

If you start at or near the beginning of the series, one thing you will notice is repetition. Phrases, terms, and even situations are re-used between the four books. This bugged me about the writing, but I can overlook it because I enjoyed the story and characters that much.

While not flawless, The Heiress’s Deception is worth a credit and I found to be addicting entertainment. It's my favorite of the series.

Other Recommendations:
If you want EVERY conversation or interaction between the main characters to lead to a make-out session and more, then try: Suddenly You by Lisa Kleypas, it’s good, but there’s a lot of that - seriously

Between the Devil and Desire by Lorraine Heath is my personal favorite for a rewarding story of a reforming game-hell owner transformed by love
