Editorial reviews

Editors Select, May 2015 - I was late to The Selection party, but once I joined, I became one of its most enthusiastic revelers. I was content with the trilogy's end (#TeamMaxon), but ecstatic to hear Kiera Cass's announcement that the series would continue. The Heir delivers something quite different from its predecessors: a heroine, Princess Eadlyn, who isn't nearly as likable as her parents, America and Maxon. Eadlyn is content to rule alone as the future queen of Illéa, but agrees to host a Selection at her father's request to give her unruly subjects something happy to focus on. She does her best to sabotage the process, but her plans falter when feelings take hold. Cass does a great job of creating a fresh story, and I'm excited to watch another Selection unfold. Highly disappointing!

The first 3 books were my all time favorite story I've ever read. I was elated when I found out Kiera Cass was releasing another book. I have never waited on a book to be released and after waiting almost a year to read this book in 1 day, I must say that this is the least interesting book I have ever read in my life! The story line was overly disappointing. I guess the saying is true that no series should go past 3 books. I'm still a fan of Kiera for creating the amazing story we all fell in love with so deeply but unfortunately I would not recommend this book to anyone!

Great Character Growth!

I love all of Kiera Cass's books and this is an exciting continuation of their story. While at first I couldn't figure out how Jacob and America could raise such a self centered spoiled bratt, especially when compared to her twin. However as I got to know her better and see her growth Eadlyn has grown on me. I can't wait for the next installment of the series.

a protagonist you actually see grow

the protagonist is completely unlike her parents, and is quite unlikeable for a majority of the book. but then you see her grow, and the walls come down a little at a time.

narrator was superb!

I wish this book series would never end!

What made the experience of listening to The Heir the most enjoyable?

I love that the story of America Singer was continued on to the next generation and how they flipped the story around to having a princess going through the Selection. Bravo to Kiera for having thought out these characters so well in depth.

What other book might you compare The Heir to and why?

Not sure what I would compare it to but beings it is a part of the Selection series it can only be compared to the previous books which of course were awesome or I wouldn't have made it this far.

What does Brittany Pressley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Brittany Pressley has done an excellent job conveying the feelings, thoughts and emotions of each character without getting lost in translation. Like Amy did for America Singer, Brittany has done as equally well for Eadlyn & all the other characters in the book surrounding the main character.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the intense moments where she allowed herself to get sucked into the moment she was currently in with the guys, how she allowed herself not to think for a moment and just be in that moment- that she didn't keep herself from having an emotional moment with them.

Any additional comments?

Nothing bad to say at all about these books except they are too short cuz I could go on listening for weeks!!!

Here Come The Boys!

What I didn't expect was the most logical next step to Ms Cass' storyline. The Bachelorette. But with so much class and grace and fun. There are so many truly moving moments in this book, you just have to read it. And the vocal work done by the reader was great.

I'm super glad I got the book and the audible together. I loved the read-a-long (whisper sync) at times. I feel like this story became a part of me. This one was great and frustrating and charming and foreboding all at the same time.

yikes

this series is highly addictive, not sure why I continue with it. I'm not a fan of the cliff hangers which every single book in the series seems to end with. this one the charecter is spoiled rotten brat and I can't stand her. I prefer the first three books although I dont understand why they are in multiple books. seems like its completely unnecessary for such a simple story. light, fluffy doesnt really take to much effort to comprehend it. which is what I'm in the mood for lately. definitely not a keeper though. wish I couldve rented it as oppose to buy it. I'm Definitly not going to listen to it again anytime soon or ever once I get the series out of the way. I just ugh didn't like it. kind of annoyed with myself for picking the first one up. its if the hunger games, the bachelorette, and. a game show had love child, and it's not very well written. but good for light and fluffy
