I dig it!

Good hard science fiction, couldn't believe how well this book aged. It's been well over a decade since I took a psychology class, but I really felt like everything was spot on. The plot twist was simple, not over done, and practically forced me to love this book to the very end.

I like Herbert again

I read Dune and it was meh for me so I was hesitant to grab another book of his, but this one was actually good and intriguing and I loved the concept of it all. i am going to read more now.

Subtle handling of the many big questions

Free will. Religion. The gods, and God. The perplexing events of life. Consciousness. A bit hidden but magnificent. Was impressed by how many provocations of related works came to mind.

Read this a long time ago and just came across it.

Would you listen to The Heaven Makers again? Why?

Yes, I love Herbert's older, non-Dune work, and it gets short shrift among the Dune fans.

What other book might you compare The Heaven Makers to and why?

Godmakers, Dosadi Experiment, any of Herbert's older work.

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's a bit ponderous, but easy to listen to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not a particular one, just all-around.

Any additional comments?

Any Dune fans should check out this and Herbert's other old books. He has many universes that are worth a read or listen.

Narration drags

I read this book years ago and loved it. I feel like the narrator is going too slow and savoring every word. I tried to increase the speed .1 but it gets tinny.

A solid Scifi story

This story won't change your outlook on life but I enjoyed listening and would recommend this book to others that enjoy science fiction

A much better and interesting story than Dune (I however only have heard the one book, but it wasn't what I expected after all the fuss).

This book is as said pretty entertaining story. (from the eternal boredom! 😉) when it got really started I missed a lot of "sleep time * in my day. (join movement for 30 hours day to get more book time! Or whatever. Sounds like the Kem seems to have cycles independently than such thing as a random thing like how long the earth revolves shouldn't mean anything when electricity is used to light everything anyway.!!)

Frank Herbert and Scott Brick do it again

After a slow start, you are placed in a position where in Herbert fashion you are seized and “forced” to listen to a story that makes perfect sense in Herbert/Brick land. It is now 3:43 am and I had to stay up to finish. What a story!!! Thank you

Weaves loose threads of our mundane mysteries in Life to a fascinatingly plausible degree

Frank Herbert ALWAYS comes through with brilliantly selected and executed story. If you like anything else from this author, you will like this one too.

A Really interesting And Thought Provoking Science Fiction

This is a very interesting and at times fascinating work of science fiction. There are a good deal of philosophical aspects to this novel. The novel is mostly clearly written and as such makes for. Good audiobook. The narrator was excellent. I fully intend to read more works by this author.
