    Apr 10 2026
Death Doula Alua Arthur brings fresh air, compassion, and humor to her work with the dying. After ten years working as an attorney, Alua found herself burned out, depressed, and looking for deeper meaning. She found her purpose and passion in end of life work. As a Death Doula and founder of Going with Grace, Alua educates clients and future death doulas about working with those experiencing serious illness. She brings an open mind to advance care planning conversations, allowing clients to bring all of their humanity to what they want for their death. • Learn About the Sacred Mission of The INN Between
    Apr 3 2026
By providing end of life care for the homeless population, The INN Between fills a special need in the Salt Lake City community. Executive Director Jillian Olmsted’s journey with The INN Between is both personal and purposeful. Jillian’s connection to the mission was shaped by her own family’s experiences with cancer—within a single year, her mother, father, and stepfather each faced the disease. Two parents required hospice care before their deaths, and Jillian personally cared for her father as he underwent treatment while uninsured, unable to work, and potentially facing homelessness. These experiences gave her a profound appreciation for the dignity and comfort that hospice and respite care provide. Listen to this episode to hear about the work being done at The INN Between. • Back to Basics: What You Need to Know About a Death Event at Home
    Mar 20 2026
This week’s episode features hospice nurse Shelley Henry in an in-depth discussion about what should happen when a death occurs at home. Many hospice patients chose to die at home, in familiar surroundings with their family members. It’s important that patients, caregivers, and end of life workers understand the things that happen at the time of a death. Here are some highlights to know: • A hospice team member might not be there when your Person dies. • Hospice agencies don’t provide ongoing bedside services when a person is dying unless there are symptoms that need to be managed. • The hospice team supports the family when there’s a death, notifying authorities as required, and providing grief support for those at the bedside. • If the death occurs inside a facility like an assisted living facility or a nursing home, the hospice team will coordinate with the facility staff. • Post-mortem care (respectful, gentle cleaning of a body after death) is often provided. • Narcotics should be destroyed in the home by the hospice nurse according to federal law. • Care at the time of death should never be hurried. Family members and caregivers should feel supported and never rushed. Get more information about hospice and connect with hospice nurse Shelley Henry at The Amity Group.
