Publisher's summary

In 1983, a family of four was murdered in their 19th century Queen Anne manse. There were no witnesses, no real investigation, and no survivors.

Over 30 years later, the house is suddenly back on the market. Ready to settle down, a young married couple moves from New York City to their dream home in the quiet town of Highlands, North Carolina. However, as past secrets come to light and unpredictable strangers violate their privacy, the couple's hope for a fresh start twists into the fuel for their darkest nightmares.

The haunting of Rachel Harroway Omnibus

I enjoyed this set of books. Rachel and her husband buy a big old house only to find a family died there. Rachel finds that she can see them and ends up with a career, but no husband. He did not sign on for ghosts,or 'Orphans' as Rachel calls them. Aundrea Mtchell was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Good creepy book!

The Haunting of Rachel Harroway Omnibus
By: J.S Donovan
Narrated by: Aundrea Mitchell
Series: Rachel Harroway Paranormal Mysteries, Book 0-2
This was a book I received from freeaudiblecodes and the review is my own opinion.

This has three stories in it. The first story tells the reader about a horrible massacre in a family home then many years later a couple buys this home. The woman, Rachel, can see the ghosts and hear them. Rachel's mother is in a mental hospital, long term, and Rachel is worried that she is going crazy.
This first story seems to be the prequel for the rest so we know how Rachel noticed/developed her gift.

The next story is six years later and Rachel is divorced, guess her ex couldn't handle ghosts, and she is working for the cops. This one involves a serial killer from the time her father was in high school. It's pretty intense. Great story.

The next story continues the last one but gets more involved. All of these have great supernatural suspense, characters, and twisted plots! Only a couple of creepy ghosts but they were creepy as humans!

Pros and cons

I listened to this book on audible instead of reading in book formation, as I often do. While I enjoyed the story line and its unique twist, I had an issue with the narrator. She was able to capture the various women's voices and accents, making each sound different and believable. But her various men's voices sounded all the same, monotone and nasally; grating on my nerves. I almost stop listening several times because they sounded so 'non believable' and irritating.
The books...good story line
The narrator...nope

good set

Good creep factor right up to the very end. Poor Brett. I don't blame him for leaving. I would have run as fast as my legs could go. A spooktackular experience that I enjoyed. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

Gift or curse?

The author puts you right into Rachel's brain so you know what she is feeling.

Aundrea Mitchell did a good job narrating.

Poorly written with awful narration

I rarely leave a book unfinished, but after 4 attempts to get through this, it was just too awful. The closest comparison I can draw is saying it's like listening to high school freshmen being forced to read their creative writing assignments out loud.
