The Hanging Judge

Everyone in the neighborhood feared the hanging judge, whose spectral form sometimes appeared in the window of the room in the large old house where he had killed himself a hundred years earlier. Stevie Francis, a small boy whose father had recently drowned at sea, knew the legend of the hanging judge and feared him more than anyone, as he frequently had to pass his house and couldn’t prevent himself from looking up at the window to see if he was there. Then, one day, he saw him, a sighting that would change his life forever. Some said that the hanging judge was cursed, some said that Stevie Francis was cursed, but for Stevie there was no way of avoiding him. The hanging judge had seen him and soon he would have the terror of meeting him.
