FIND OUT WHAT IS NEXT FOR STRIKE AND ROBIN

A dismembered corpse is discovered in the vault of a silver shop. The police initially believe it to be that of a convicted armed robber - but not everyone agrees with that theory. One of them is Decima Mullins, who calls on the help of private detective Cormoran Strike as she's certain the body in the silver vault was that of her boyfriend - the father of her newborn baby - who suddenly and mysteriously disappeared.

The more Strike and his business partner Robin Ellacott delve into the case, the more labyrinthine it gets. The silver shop is no ordinary one: it's located beside Freemasons' Hall and specialises in Masonic silverware. And in addition to the armed robber and Decima's boyfriend, it becomes clear that there are other missing men who could fit the profile of the body in the vault.

As the case becomes ever more complicated and dangerous, Strike faces another quandary. Robin seems increasingly committed to her boyfriend, policeman Ryan Murphy, but the impulse to declare his own feelings for her is becoming stronger than ever.

A gripping, wonderfully complex novel which takes Strike and Robin's story to a new level, The Hallmarked Man is an unmissable read for any fan of this unique series.©2025 Robert Galbraith Limited (P)2025 Hachette Audio UK

Love this book series in general. Have been waiting for this one for a long time.

The detective storyline didn’t disappoint, brilliant as usual although a bit too convoluted. Having started with one missing person the agency ends up investigating several unrelated crimes and solves all of them.

However, in terms of personal drama of the main characters, it’s feels painfully forced and completely unnecessary. The whole ‘will they, won’t they’ situation should have been resolved two books ago. Now it’s just agonizing and distracting.

By the end of the book the relationships between characters have got absolutely out of hand, with character A sleeping with character B, who is actually in love with character C, who wants to propose to character D, who is in love with character E, who loves character D too, but doesn’t have the guts to tell them. Seriously? Reminds me of a Mexican soap opera from the 90s. I really hope this mess resolves itself in the beginning of the next book. I’m here for the crime thriller not for the crooked love polygon. It’s a different genre of book.

Detective storyline brilliant, personal drama unnecessary

Can Robin and Strike now get on with it 🤣 Please! I feel like throttling both of them

I just love the way she writes and the huge amount of research that JK must do.

As always Robert Galbraith like the preceding books this one has a fabulous plot full of twists ands turns. As for the Robyn & Strike relationship, I got a bit fed up even though it really was in keeping with their personal history. Now I wait for a year or more to find out what the heck happens between them.

I love the twist and turns

I had to listen to this one twice before I understood all the plot points and who did what when and to whom, but I got there in the end. It was a complicated story with quite a few red herrings and I had no idea who’d “dunnit” until the end. Even so it wasn’t my favourite outing for Strike and Ellacott.

I do wish Strike and Robin would spend 5 minutes properly communicating, it would make all the difference.

Golden moments of humour for me include Pat and the fish and Pat giving Strike advice at the end. In fact Pat has become one of my favourite characters, long may she reign.

Robert Glenister’s narration is always a joy to listen to.

Complex plot, unresolved personal issues.

the complexity of the detective story was compelling and the relationship between Robin and Strike was realistic. looking forward to see what happens next.

I've always enjoyed how she sketches characters and society, with the obvious, the undertones, the bizarre, the powerful intuitions.

Mixed feelings

annoyed with the relationship between Strike and Robyn. Hope it gets resolved in the next book or I think most readers will have lost patience

Kept me awake for two consecutive nights. A long book but I couldn’t stop listening

The whole story is very intricate. At no point I had an inkling who dunnit. I will have to wait for the next book now, since it ended with the biggest (worst for fans) cliffhanger everrrr.

Highly recommended

I love it! 👏👏👏👏 Everything: the plot, the plot development, the reading, in short, everything. Each book is as good as the last one before, or even better. The only downside is that we have to wait a year or more to read the next masterpiece in this series

I love everything from the book!

I really identified with robin this time. Her thoughts and behaviour. Strike is hilarious, swears like a trooper but no nonsense guy. Love the characters. Of course the accents of anyone Scottish are terrible but you get used to that. (Sadly). Anyway the story had me addicted. I didn’t know Telford was a Freemason! Who knew. Always an education as well as entertainment. Does anyone remember Moonlighting? Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd. The will they won’t they get it all at the detective agency? This is for me the UK version.

Robin behaving a bit like me
