Publisher's Summary

Information is everywhere, and yet many women still don’t truly understand how our bodies work and specifically how our lower genital tract works. Dr Anita Mitra, aka The Gynae Geek, believes that we can be empowered about our health only when we have accurate information. This audiobook will be that source.

This audiobook takes you from your first period to the onset of menopause and explains everything along the way. From straightforward information about whether the pill is safe, which diet is best for PCOS, what an abnormal smear actually means, if heavy periods are a sign of cancer, right through to extraordinary tales from the clinic. This straight to the heart, sharpshooting guide will become the go-to reference book for all young women seeking answers about reproductive health as well as a way to dispel the swath of misinformation that’s out there.

Dr Anita Mitra shares her personal experiences with stress and anxiety and her learnings about how the gynaecological health of women can be influenced by lifestyle choices.

Critic Reviews

"Anita has the ability to distil the science of reproductive and female health into accessible and easy-to-understand pieces of information. She is a trusted source of knowledge in an era of self-proclaimed gurus and internet experts." (Dr Hazel Wallace, medical doctor and founder of The Food Medic)

"For someone who was incredibly uncomfortable to even say the word vagina, Anita has made me realise how normal and necessary speaking about female health really is. She delivers the stuff that we all need to know but are probably too scared to ask in a digestible and engaging way, and this book is a must read for ALL women." (Alice Liveing)

"Dr Anita is quite frankly the Gynaecology Specialist that every woman wished they had. Highly qualified, open minded and personable, she is the reassuring yet straight talking doctor everybody wants to be seen by. Her new book is a simple guide through the world of womens health and gives everyone access to her consultation room. From periods and hormones, to contraceptives and cancer, Anita gives you the low down on everything and more! It is the book that women of all ages would benefit from reading and one that I'll be recommending to all of my patients for straight-forward, trustworthy advice on the most common questions we get asked." (Dr Rupy Aujla, author of The Doctor's Kitchen)

Must read for women

Full of really useful information.

I can stop worrying about lots of things now I'm more informed about what women can consider to be "normal" for want of a better word. Our bodies are amazing, and equally can be fairly simple to look after. Thanks Anita!

Clear and concise facts delivered in a friendly manner

Listening to Dr Mitra’s ‘The Gynae Geek’ is like having a good friend answer and explain all the questions you’ve needed/ wanted to ask and didn’t. She moves clearly through different sections, explaining things that you would probably have googled and never come away with a satisfactory answer. You get the facts which, as she makes clear, every woman should be armed with.
