Publisher's summary

Take the leap.

She's got her feet planted on the ground. He'll teach her to fly.

Jessica, a curvy, driven, neat-freak lawyer is ecstatic when she finally gets her dream job - even though it's taking her away from her hometown. When she meets over-the-top, man-mountain Mikey, a fitness buff and veterinarian with a messy life in all senses of the word, she thinks she just walked into the second-most exciting adventure of her life.

His larger-than-life personality fascinates her, but also shakes the foundations of her quiet, introverted self, knocking her off-kilter. It's a bad idea to let him take her on as a weight-loss client. It's an even worse idea to get involved with him since he's her manwhore roommate...and she's seen him in action.

If they give into their undeniable attraction, is it just a train wreck waiting to happen? Or will their desire fuel a chance at real love?

If you love steamy romance, be sure to check out the fourth standalone in the Giving You series.

4.5 The Ground Beneath Our Feet

Mikey & Jessica

This story was fantastic; it is real and touching and makes you really think.

Books that you can relate to are the best kinds I think. I may not be able to relate to Mikey or what he is going through. But I sure can feel for everything he is dealing with. Him taking responsibility like he does makes me like him a whole heck of a lot. Also totally loved, that he was this big tattoo’s fella who has this incredible heart for animals. Swoon!

Jessica is who I relate to, one she is curvy. CHECK.
She deals with her emotions by over eating. Now that I don’t relate with. But her struggle is something I relate with CHECK.

But herself image, CHECK. That is something a LOT of women deal with and can relate too. We see ourselves or parts of our body that we need to be a shammed of. Who would want to love that, if we can’t love ourselves?

I loved that even though it was a struggle Jessica fights through all the under lying issues. She really wants to get better mentally and physically, even if I personally think her body wasn’t the problem.

I loved that Mikey saw Jessica for who she is and not for the size of her body.

If you have read any of Leslie’s other books … Will is my favorite… I can’t help it, cowboys’ need I say more. LMAO…

But Tor in this audiobook.. SWOON.. That voice.. I am not a blusher, he made me blush! Ok ok .. So I am a blusher but NOT from a voice! That deep, raspy maleness.. Just Yeahhh..
Ok and we need to talk about Charley now… I enjoyed all her female voices. From her Jessica voice, to her mom, to Cherry. Though sometimes the s’s on the end of her words were getting to me.
Loved this book, Read it, Recommend it!

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Fantastic!

To say that I love this story is an understatement. I adore it. I felt so connected with Jessica. We have a lot in common and it was surprising to see that I'm not alone when it comes to body image issue or food issue.
I will listen to this audiobook again and again.

The narrators did an amazing job. Tor Tom And Charley Ongel never disappoint. They offer the perfect emotions throughout the story.

I highly recommend it

New Beginnings

Where does The Ground Beneath Our Feet rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I very much enjoyed the story line and enjoyed listening to another book narrated by Tor Thom! He's one of my autobuys. I love his voice and Charley Ongel was amazing!

What did you like best about this story?

This story is about two different people who are trying to move on from their pasts. I enjoyed this story and how it shows a woman who doesn't think she can control her urges and doesn't think she's beautiful Jessica. And Mike helps her to see the beauty in herself. As well as Jessica soon helps Mike to get thru his past endeavors.

Which character – as performed by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel – was your favorite?

I enjoyed all of them. I love how they brought the characters to life

A wonderful story and a very sexy narration!!

The Ground Beneath Our Feet is a wonderful story of two people finding each other and overcoming their personal obstacles. Jessica is very relatable in her personal journey regarding her self image and ways of coping. And Mikey is an over the top man who goes after what he wants..... Which is Jessica!

Now the narration of the book was off the chart sexy and sinful! I think that I have found my new favorite male narrator. I also loved the duel narration through out the book, where the male narrator speaks all male parts and the female narrator speaks all female parts.

I highly recommend this author and both narrators!

Wonderful Story! Narration is hot as sin.

What did you love best about The Ground Beneath Our Feet?

What an amazing story: brilliant writing, complex characters, unexpected turns, and sizzling narration

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Ground Beneath Our Feet?

The sexting scene! OMG. I listened again and again.

Which character – as performed by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel – was your favorite?

Mikey! I listened last night before bed. I woke up saying "Mikey" in a cold sweat.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The emotional intimacy, esp. when Mikey owned his own vulnerability. Your past does not determine your present.

Any additional comments?

Candid comment: the voice of the male narrator is simply sinful. SINFUL. If you are listening alone, relaxed, and in the mood, do not be surprised if you find yourself wearing fewer clothes with a smile on your face. I am not saying that was my experience... ;) If it happens to you, you were warned. Big Kiss! Thank you, Leslie, Tor, and Charley.

Wanted to like this, but it just wasn't for me

What did you like best about The Ground Beneath Our Feet? What did you like least?

The best part of The Ground Beneath Our Feet was the narration by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel. Tor especially was incredible and has such a deep and smooth voice. *swoon* I would not have been able to get through this book without their wonderful performances.

What was most disappointing about Leslie McAdam’s story?

I just couldn't connect with the characters or story. I did not feel invested in Mikey or Jessica and found the pacing to be really slow. There was nothing that caught and held my attention after the initial meeting of our characters. For most of the book, I actually felt like Mikey was just really creepy. I did like that he always saw Jessica for who she was though. Toward the end, I did end up liking the characters more, but by that point it was too late.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Mikey and Jessica "meet" for the first time. That was surprising and hilarious (though I was not impressed with Mikey's treatment of Cherry) and gave me high hopes for the book. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there.

Any additional comments?

This book deals with some very emotional issues (like abuse, alcoholism, etc). I liked the overall message of the book and that the characters were both trying to battle their demons and live healthier lives. I really wanted to like this book, but sadly, it just wasn't for me.

Thought provoking

This book was thought provoking. Nothing like I thought it was going to be, but very interesting to watch our main female character deal with issues that I'm sure many will be able to relate to, to some degree and on some level. For some reason, I found it more...thought provoking. It didn't really conjure up any emotions, but more...thoughts.
Tor Thom has a great voice and did a nice job. This was my first Leslie McAdam and Tor Thom.
