Acerca de esta escucha

Hollywood star Dakota Fanning narrates the audio of one of the most anticipated books of the year, from #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Weiner.

A glimmering novel set in the world of 2000s pop music about sisters, motherhood, young love, and the dreams we chase. The audio edition includes an original song inspired by the novel.

Cassie and Zoe Grossberg were thrust into the spotlight as The Griffin Sisters, a pop duo that defined the aughts. Together, they skyrocketed to the top, gracing MTV, SNL, and the cover of Rolling Stone. Cassie, a musical genius who never felt at ease in her own skin, preferred to stay in the shadows. Zoe, full of confidence and craving fame, lived for the stage. But fame has a price, and after one turbulent year, the band abruptly broke up.

Now, two decades later, the sisters couldn’t be further apart. Zoe is a suburban mom warning her daughter Cherry to avoid the spotlight, while Cassie has disappeared from public life entirely. But when Cherry begins unearthing the truth behind their breathtaking rise and infamous breakup, long-buried secrets surface, forcing all three women to confront their choices, their desires, and their complicated bonds.

With richly developed characters, a nostalgic nod to the pop culture of the 2000s, and a resonant tale of ambition, forgiveness, and family, The Griffin Sisters' Greatest Hits will captivate listeners from the first note to the final encore. Whether you’ve followed Jennifer Weiner for years or are discovering her for the first time, this book is a must-listen for music lovers, fans of sisterly dramas, and anyone who cherishes a great story of second chances.

Lo que los oyentes dicen sobre The Griffin Sisters' Greatest Hits

Con calificación alta para:

The Reviews Suggest That The Audiobook Has A Compelling And Well-plotted Storyline That Explores The Themes Of Sisterhood, Family Relationships, Love, And The Music Industry. Many Praised The Excellent Character Development And Found The Story Heartwarming And Entertaining. However, Some Criticized The Story For Being Repetitive, Boring, Or Uninteresting, With Excessive Focus On Body Image And Fat-shaming. Overall, The Story Seems To Resonate With Readers, Particularly Those Who Appreciate Stories About Complex Family Dynamics And The Pursuit Of Passion.

The best?

Or one of the best? The Griffin Sisters is a delightful addition to my favorite Jennifer Weiner's novels. Never a false note.

I never knew

What the ending might be for this complicated story of the passions of its also complicated main characters. It wasn’t the ending that I hoped for, but Weiner’s ending was the right one

Unfortunately, unrealistic in one crucial area

Unfortunately, in one particular area of the main character, Cassie.
It just doesn’t make sense if she was sequestered away for 20 years and depriving herself of all comforts of life, (including comforting foods) according to Cherry when she came to visit and was served the foods that she was served, it just doesn’t make sense that Cassie didn’t lose some weight. Working in the weight-loss industry for over 25 years I know if you go on a self imposed strict diet like Cassie seems, to deny herself “joy”, to be on that lifestyle diet she would’ve lost. Just because the author made such a point of making her always be fat. She could’ve at least given her that…a weight loss. She still might’ve been dark and brooding and maybe she wasn’t very attractive, but she still would’ve lost weight. She wouldn’t have had to wear caftans…
As far as the narrator, though I like Dakota Fanning, her narrative was dark and brooding throughout the whole book when there are times that she could’ve used different inflections to make it more light and fun.
That’s all…

Feelings

I loved the storyline of how each sister felt. I would have loved hearing their songs

Think Daisy Jones and The Six blends a band book with the band Heart .

I liked it don’t get me wrong but I hated the way the whole imagine of Cassie was represented. I know this author is very sensitive to the “ chunky ,fat ,chubby ,solid “ looking character but Cassie came off as a hideous fat troll and I hated that . It was too much about her looks and that bothered me. I loved the band triangle angst and the sister who really was so unlikable at times . Poor Cassie between how her mother felt about her in utero to her sister’s behavior it was sad . It’s not a story that you haven’t read or heard before but it was entertaining enough . I wouldn’t have said it was great but it was entertaining enough . Dakota Fanning did a great job telling the story and I had some questions in the end that weren’t answered but with that all said it was a good read . Maybe the author can take a time out about character size for a bit . We all come in different sizes ,we all get that but it’s too much focusing on that in her stories that are getting annoying now . Tell me about the character’s thinking ,mindset ,true self I don’t care about the thigh size ,enough with that now please

She's baaAAAack! Love this one!

This book reminds me some of JW's early work. The ones I can read and listen to as if I'm having a lovely visit with an old friend. Very interesting and well plotted story line, fantastic narration, funny without being trite, and even though I've never had a sister it was a beautifully moving tale.
Thank you, beloved author, I needed it!
I do adore dual timelines, and this was done perfectly. No confusing time warps, this is the fiction that keeps readers coming back for more!

Heart Searing

I wish I could have given this AMAZINGLY written and performed (audio) book 5 Stars because it reminded me why I LOVE listening to literature (and
alliteration LOL)... BUT I started to cringe after the 3rd or 4th (out of FAR TOO MANY) detaied explaination of Cassie's disgustingly ugly & obsese appearance.

Having been overweight and bullied myself, I think there is a way for readers to hold compassion & empathy for a character's profoundly painful disembodiment and self hatred without being cruel.

I also believe there is something inately beautiful in every human's appearance, even if it is only seen by those that truly love them. It would have been nice to hear about the beauty of Cassie's appearance when she sang or connected with people in a specific way.

Because this novel focuses so much on the magical experience of connecting with music, I found myself desperatly wanting to hear The Griffen sister's songs ..... and was disappointed to have lyrics without the melodies, cords, rhythms, etc.

I truly did LOVE this book far more than I was annoyed by its shortcomings
