A delight!

For myself the first episode and the fact it was so lovingly produced was mana from heaven. I love how they kept the continuity of characters and reimagined the Lama coming back to the U.S. to senseless murder, mirroring the violence which originally birthed the Green Lama. I am unqualified to comment further but I hope they continue to create a serious comic book world - if that makes sense.

Truly incredible.

I used to get old radio dramas at the library and this reminds me of the golden age of radio. If you love classics like The Shadow, you’ll find this right up your alley.

Yes please!

Classic old radio drama, action packed fights, and *GASP* women who aren’t just there to be rescued, I can’t wait to hear more.

Like stepping in a time machine.

What a start! I'm hooked and absolutely ready for more! Made me feel like I was transported back in time listening to the old Superman dramas in the car with my dad. Only one episode in and already I can hear all the heart this production has. Adam and Co., keep this up, its so good.

A World of Difference…

Having heard some of the old time radio episodes of the original Green Lama show, this new podcast of his adventures are a completely different world like the postwar America he returns to as the series begins. I like how this take on the Lama is sort of a mix of his different iterations which brings in characters and elements from the pulps, comics and radio show as the story and hero establishes itself. Unlike the old shows which were 24 minute single adventures, this show is telling an extended episodic story which stitches together a world weary hero returning to a city drowning in organized crime as the world is still recovering from a global war in an uneasy peace. The existential threat of Communism hasn’t brought the “Red Scare” to the forefront, but you can see the stirrings of it taking hold in some of the dialogue.

The Lama isn’t the cool sort of man-about-town/troubleshooter of the original OTR show, he’s a hero who went overseas with that naive optimism in hand and saw things that had him doubting his days as an adventurer were worth the trouble. When he finds himself drawn back into the role more through circumstance than intention, the Lama is initially reluctant but reconciles himself to playing the role of costumed hero long enough to break up the increasingly violent criminals plaguing his home town and discover if the rumors of a mysterious mastermind that controls everything are based in truth.

This has been a lot of fun to listen so far, I’m subscribed so I won’t miss any new episodes as they’re released.

Now quit reading this and enjoy the show.
