Publisher's summary

Graham Russell and I weren't made for one another.

I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed.

Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other's secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.

Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.

Graham Russell wasn't a man who knew how to love, and I wasn't a woman who knew how to either. Yet if I had the chance to fall again, I'd fall with him forever.

Even if we were destined to crash against solid ground.

Sweet

This story is like all of Brittainy Cherry's books. Filled with love, heartbreak, life lessons and sweetness.

Graham has a hardened heart, Lucy has the softest. Together there is bound to be a whole lot of drama, all tied up with a little girl named Talon.

There are a few things that I just didn't understand. Lucy's sister Mara is one of them. The reasons for her decisions were a little difficult for me to believe but for the most part I thoroughly enjoyed the story.

Erin Mallon was perfection. She always is. She really embodied the free spirit of Lucy. Brian Pallino was good. His female voice comes across a little disingenuous but otherwise great.

Intense, authentic, likeable characters...

I immensely enjoyed this book. I could tell the author invested time and energy and sweat creating the characters and the storyline. All were original and defining. And, finally! a book with more story than sex. This book is not filled with the usual fluff that fills a contemporary romance. It was unique as were the characters, all of whom remained consistent in their identities. The only issue I had was in wondering why the author identified the race of some of the characters, but not others. Long after I'd become invested in the characters, and had an image of each in my mind's eye, the author would drop a physical hint about race/skin color that was different from what I envisioned to that point; so my listening was interrupted as I tried to reevaluate and wonder how to adjust for the new piece of information. The descriptions were subtle, but introduced. And I wondered why. Then three-quarters in, actual races were identified on secondary characters and again, I wondered why. It was subtle, but made me reevaluate my idea of whom these characters were. The race drops didn't bother me; what intrigued me was why the author revealed each in the manner she did, taking care to reveal race in certain instances, but not in others. But the story...it was an amazing journey. I'm a writer (fiction and nonfiction), so my escape is in reading the words of other authors. I rate Brittainy Cherry among some of the finer authors who write from the heart.

First ever review...

I have read and/or listened to hundreds of books through Kindle and Audible and I have liked many of them. However, up until now, I have never been compelled to write a review. I thought more often than not that my opinions mirrored others' reviews. Whereas that may be the case with this book as well, I was so completely touched by this novel. I laughed, I cried, and at times I gave the characters a piece of my mind! This book was extremely well written. Characters and plot were well developed and flowed smoothly. Throw in redemption even for the villains and a beautiful happily ever after, and you have a multi-faceted story that will keep you enthralled from beginning to end. Well done!

Beautiful Slow Building Romance

“Because that’s the thing about hearts—when you think they’re completely full, you somehow find room to add a little more love.”

This quote speaks to my tender soul, with every book I read, I fall in love with such a variety of stories and characters that I am amazed at the different ways I can be moved to feel so many emotions over and over again. This book worked its way slowly into my heart, taking hold with little moments that stole my breath and had me aching over the pain the characters were going through.

The beautiful girl who felt everything and the tortured man you who felt nothing. Graham and Lucy are polar opposites unless it comes to their love for little Talon, wanting what is best for the miracle she is. Lucy’s heart was so pure that even when Graham was mean and callous, she knew under all that facade, he was a man that needed love more than anyone else. I really enjoyed that the romance aspect was slow building, the foundation they built their love on was believable and had me rooting for them both to find happiness. The narration was spot on, bringing grumpy Graham cracker and hippie Lucille to life, the emotions they evoked from me while listening are a true testament to the power of audiobooks.

“Air above me, earth below me, fire within me, water surround me, spirit becomes me.”

A PHENOMENAL BINGE-LISTEN WITH BEAUTY & BITE

I picked this listen up in a recent sale.. I don't know how I missed it the first time around because I love Brittany's romances.. and oh boy this slow-burn tore at my heartstrings, broke my heart and put it together again in ONE DAY. I won't go on and on about the book because it's all been said before but I'm in such book hangover now it's over.

Worth a credit? Yes easily.. the heart and growth that's contained in this love story was phenomenal and the narration by both Brian and Erin was perfect.

So, so good!

I love this book! I read it first last year when it first came out and it was my favorite read of 2017! So I listened to it this time around and enjoyed every minute of it! The narrators did an amazing job bringing Lucille and Graham to life! I laughed, I cried, I got mad, I got happy! So many feels. Brittainy Cherry can write! This is a love story, emphasis on story! If you are wanting hot sex, there is minimal amounts of that. But to be honest, the story made up for it! I didn’t miss it and I still felt like the chemistry between Graham and Lucy was palpable and real! READ or LISTEN TO THIS BOOK! You won’t regret it!

exceptional female narrator

Although story was okay, yet unique, narration by female was superb. She elevated this read to obove okay. In addition her male voice is good enough and when she reads, a male likely is not needed to read male part.

Beautiful

The Gravity of Us was a beautiful story of a broken man (Graham) and hopelessly optimistic woman (Lucy). When they met, they did not know his pregnant wife was her sister until his father’s funeral. After the birth of daughter, Graham’s wife abandons them. Lucy moves in to help Graham with his daughter, and they fall in love.

This is a beautifully written story with fantastic character growth, heart, family drama, and a plot of what makes love real. There is also a found family in this story.
