Publisher's summary

Before there was the family, there was just the business. From the minds of New York Times best-selling authors Carl Weber and Eric Pete comes the game-changing prequel to their blockbuster Family Business saga.

Travel back to a small Southern town where, before there was Duncan Motors, there were the Duncan brothers: Louis, aka Sweet Lou, a lover of ladies and life and a man you did not want to cross; Lawrence, aka Larry, a screw-up as attracted to trouble as it was to him; and Lavernius, better known as LC, the soft-spoken college boy who simply wanted to sell cars.

But the Duncan brothers weren't alone at the crossroads. There was also the mysterious and seductive Chippy, a woman who saw a way out of her circumstances and dared to take it. Witness what changed the course of their lives when ambitions intersected with opportunity that came calling one day in the form of a man named Alejandro Zuniga. Welcome to the familiar, but as you've never seen it before.

The full voice cast includes Alonso Riggs, Julian Durant, and Neicy Bethea.

Heavy R

DON'T YOU DO YOUR BUSINESS IN MY MOUTH!!
Even more sex in this one, since a whore house is a main location for the story. The only thing that kept me listening, is that it shows how everything got started. The number one First Family story is a lot better. This is a unique series, but start with The Family Business book 1. Expect bad language and the things whores do.

The multiple performance is a big plus

Where it all begins

I really enjoyed this book. I love Carl Weber's mind and the way that he lets you get to know his characters. The narration of this book was wonderful, they had the right cast for this one. I loved the Family Business series and this book helps you get to know and respect who LC and Chippy are. This is a must read I would have never imagined Chippy's past being the way that it was. I am glad that these two found each other and were able to build an empire. This is the beginning, how it all started.

An Opening that Attracts so much

What made the experience of listening to The Grand Opening the most enjoyable?

Each narration had me visually there during each reading. It was given so much life.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ms Shirley, b/c she she seem like one of those old school women who made you laugh, but had that personality also that you better not messvw/ and LC he was the youngest, yet seem to be more mature and friendliest.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

Each narrator was able to potray the other characters in their time of reading

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Excellent Series

I loved this book. I loved how he used different narrators. This book really set the stage for the other books in this series. I look forward to reading/listening to more to come.

Great Book!!

I really enjoyed this book! This book captured and held my interest throughout. So much so that I am just download the first Family Business book in the series. I also loved each of the narrators. They really made the characters come to life.

Excellent Narration

This book wasn't perfect--a bit too trashy to my taste--but it was fast-paced and the narration was very, very good. I enjoyed it, for what it was, on a long drive. Still 5 stars, if not a high 5 stars.

Interesting perhaps, but not habit-forming

The description made this book sound interesting, and I managed to work my way through it. I found the protagonist to be something of a sympathetic character, but I didn't care much for the Family Business and its culture. I'm unlikely to take another book in this series.
