Love the content, but....

Where does The Grain Brain Whole Life Plan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Compared to other books about nutrition, this is one of my favorites.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Peter Ganim?

The absolute worst part of this audio book is the narrator. Peter Ganim is brutal. At times it is hard to stay awake as he is the most monotone narrator I have ever heard.

Luxurious and healthy eating lifestyle, luv it!

I've done a lot of health research the last decade, in part, due to my experiencing neurological issues associated with my eating lifestyle. After finally settling on Dr Perlmutter advice and knowledge, I've completely removed all my health issues niw that I follow the Whole Life Plan. This audio book was a perfect blueprint to accomplish it. I highly recommend this book in both print and digital audio.

Encouraging for adopting a healthy lifestyle.

The narrator was a little dry.
The content lays out a doable plan adopt a healthy lifestyle. It is similar to the bulletproof diet but more liberal in areas of suspect foods (like dairy, fermented veggies, and quinoa). If I even do half of the plan, I will be healthier.

You will change your life

The science of how your body responds to different foods is covered well here. I have done low carb previously with good results.

Recently, I had been battling Asthma (which hasn't plagued me since childhood), and using two inhalers daily. I had been eating out and consuming processed foods extensively. This book inspired me to revisit a low carb lifestyle.

Within a few days of low carb and grain free eating I no longer felt the need for an inhaler. The inflammatory response of my body to grains, was apparently worse than I had previously understood. Each day gets better, and I feel wonderful.

This book could change your life, as it has already done so for mine.

I can see how this would be great for some

This is a lot of the same from the last two books. The action plan doesn't work very well as an audio book. still great info though for anyone who hasn't read his other books

How do I access the PDF

I am enjoying the book and the content but how do I access the PDF? I can’t even find it, there are constant references to it within the book but after looking high and low I cannot find it!

Knowledge is power

Other than a couple boring chapters where the book talks about recipes...not something you want read to you but the PDF comes in handy for this. Lots of good info.

Another great addition to the series

If you have read the two previous books this one falls in line. It mostly serves as a melding of his prior books, putting everything into practical terms that use can use everyday. Much of what he recommends is back by studies.

I think I've been bamboozled...

I am a twenty year old with many serious aliments and was very interested to see if I could get myself out by the bootstraps. Some of the things Perlmutter suggests I agree with.

Gut bacteria are important, although he pumps it up crazily. There seems to be no evidence for gluten free helping most people. I'm on the fence about his ketosis recommendation some evidence for attempting ketosis, but one NCBI article said prolonged ketosis is bad. Some advise is *obviously* good: workout, cut out sugar (minus fruits and veggies), and get good sleep.

He also seems like a mountebank: he has expensive programs, his own line of supplements, and he always plugs his website. This plus Reddit saying he's a quack raised my skepticism.

I really feel bamboozled, swindled, and hoodwinked. If you're going to go into this, go in SCEPTICALLY, and write down his specific recommendations and FACT CHECK THEM (like I did with ketosis because it can induce ketoacidosis after a long time).

Buy it!

This book is not a fad diet, it is a life plan, it is a road map to eating better to become healthier. In the last 100 years, food now comes in boxes. How is that possible? Because they are loaded with chemicals to preserve them so we can make a quick meal even quicker. It is no wonder cancer is everywhere. Years ago children were sent outside to play and run off their energy, not anymore, now energetic children are diagnosed with ADHD and put on mind-altering drugs that will one day affect their health.

This book can be borrowed from the library but when you purchase it on Audible you will receive a downloadable PDF of reference material like foods you should avoid and why, and a list of foods you should use to replace the bad foods. There are also recipes, and menus, of actual food you will want to eat for 14 days, for example, a few times per week you skip breakfast, and for lunch have onion soup, 2 chicken drumsticks and some mixed greens (leftovers from the previous day) and Tuscan style pork roast, collard greens and quinoa for dinner and coconut pudding for dessert. There is also a recipe for a frittata that you can tailor to your own taste and a daily checklist to make sure you take your supplements (there are some that are suggested) do your exercise, have dinner, or days when you fast through breakfast and drink water. There are also recipes for all-natural cleaners to use in your home because even chemicals affect your body and can cause cancers.

I walked away from this book with more information than I thought possible. It has catapulted me to do more research on fermented foods for better probiotic benefits and now I ferment my own foods like sauerkraut, pickles, peppers, bone broth, and ginger beer. My goal is to help someone in my family who has Parkinson's be able to live a better quality life and hopefully reduce their symptoms, I'll keep you updated.
