Great Mood Lifter!

Sweet, uplifting story that doesn't take itself too seriously, with a bit of the greek gods and goddesses thrown in. Narrator does a great job with all the voices. Can't recommend it enough. This is the only audio book in my entire collection I've listened to twice within the same month. If people keep putting books like this on Audible, I'm going to go broke...

Nothing but Amazing.

This book is what officially got me hooked into audible. The story was amazing I cannot put into words how beautiful and wonderful the story was. The way the olympians were written and portrayed stayed as close to their original myths as possible and should there ever be a sequel I’d buy it in an instant. 10/10 would listen to again.

Meh

I thought this was okay, not great, but not bad either. The main character was written with totality clueless, but exceptionally clever personality that I didn't really buy, or get into. The voice acting was a low point for me. It was voiced by single woman, so many of the male voices started to sound the same. I think this could have used a second actor or actress to add a little bit of diversity to it.

Thank you so much! I absolutely loved this book, and the narration was perfect. I fell madly in love with the characters through their voices, especially Alex and his Gorgon Bride. I wasn’t expecting her to sound so sweet and him so innocent... loved it. I felt like they were both personal best friends to me and wanted to marry them both! I also loved Athena, and her sass, and thought it was brilliant that Hades sounded like a total depressive monotone type, instead of some growly demon jerk, which is how I was expecting him to sound. I really love it when narrators make creative choices, and this narrator rocked it. I could really FEEL all the characters’ personalities while listening, and it’s a huge gift when that happens, in any audiobook. There were so many cool characters in this book, and it was an incredibly fun experience hearing them with this modern twist. Exciting story, too! Great job keeping the listener totally engaged!

I’ve listened to this book twice already, because it just puts you in a great mood

My only gripe is that the sequel isn’t out yet. Can’t wait to hear it! Thank you!

too good to stop at one

this book was so enticing, I did not want it to end. the book was rich with excitement and adventure. the story was easy to follow but abstract enough to keep you guessing what would happen next. there were chapters that had me laughing while other had me yelling in anger at what the characters were doing. I would suggest to anyone and everyone that they need to read or listen to this book.

decent adventure with a meh romance.

the beginning had some promise, but felt very rushed to get the two romance figures together. The adventure that follows has some entertaining moments.

loved it

I don't want to spoil anything but I would say that the book is a very clever adaptation of classic storytelling. I really like how the author blended did ancient mythology into a modern setting.
On one handit is a light hearted comedy the other a classic Greek tragedy .
I hope the author has more stories to tell with these characters.

A fun frolic in Greek myth but justice?

Following Alex's Odyssey through various adapted Greek myths was fun and even more fun was the attention given to an unjustly maligned, obscure but deserving goddess, Euryale. Alex is a somewhat goofy character, but has a solid heart and is relentless as he stumbles through his trials to be reunited with Euryale. He certainly has me smacking my head at times with his daftness, but his arc is good and in the end, he got what he deserved. as for the others...

(probably spoilers ahead)

I would have liked to see more justice dishes out to the likes of Athena and Aphrodite. What Athena had done to Stheno, Euryale and Medusa is both unjust and unforgivable. I would have liked to see her brought down a few rungs. The gorgon sisters deserve justice but Athena, in this story, seemed to be rewarded with an undeserved victory over Aphrodite.

Aphrodite also seemed to get away with way too much. What she did in screwing with Euryale's heart was not met with any justice except to her pride in losing to Athena. Not enough.

Also, I don't recall Phorcys being that well known of a god, but Jessica seemed to know who he was right off the bat. No mention of Euryale's mom, Ceto either. She's probably more obscure, but still I hope to see her in the next one.

Despite all this, I'm excited to read the sequel and am crossing my fingers for #JusticeForStheno and #JusticeForMedusa. Very good read.

Good but not mindblowing

The books story was good if a little frustrating at times. As a big fan of greek mythology a few inconsistencies and mispronounced names bugged me greatly. the worst was when the narrator couldnt seem to get it straight that Hercules and Heracles were different people and alternated the names seemingly at random... that physically hurt. That asside it is an amazing story that i would recommend anyone listen too.

I found the story pleasing, and most of the narration good... except for the main character Alex. I'm sorry but he usually sounded like a stoner.... or napoleon dynamite. it just wasnt conducive to the story, kind of broke the immersion for me.
