Funny and quirky
I love the cats of Tom Cox and the way he explains their individual personalities. Obviously the Bear is my favourite but Shipley's swearing makes me think that in another life I was a shouty cat, I'm certainly a shouty sweaty human. They all feel like old friends and I laughed and chuckled happily on the bus and while in bed so that the others and my husband now think I'm completely mad. Which is fine. May you disarm bus passengers too with your spontaneous chuckles.

The healing power of cats...
I loved this story, recognising as I did some of the traits of my own cats. The appearance of his father in the story truly enhanced it and I'm sure his phrase WOFAL (watch out for Fuckwits and Loonies) will stay with me for years. I listened to most of tis story the day my own father died and laughed out loud many times - believe me laughter is a great healer and this story is a real tonic.

Loved it. Wish the other books were available on audio. Bought the series (4 books in total, this is no 3) and have giggled and snorted my way through them all. Also found myself with tears rolling down my face at the touching bits. Although the cats are the stars, the scene-stealer was Tom's dad, who is absolutely brilliantly weird.

A cat book that's funny and smart
I hugely enjoy Tom Cox's articles, blogs and tweets about his sad cat and thought I'd give one of his books a try. I'm so glad that I did. I love cats but generally dislike things about cats, depicting cats or shaped like cats.Definitely one for everyone who thinks a book about cats is bound to be twee. This is so funny and genuinely heartwarming without being sentimental. I too now long to gaze into The Bear's eyes and have him read my soul.
Mark Meadows is great - I especially enjoy his interpretation of Tom's dad almost all of whom's utterances made me laugh out loud.

Brilliantly hilarious
Absolutely brilliant book by the very funny Tom Cox, I very much enjoyed this and laughed out loud on the train listening to it on more than one occasion! I will definitely be getting his other books.

The Good, no bad and lots of furry
Tom Cox has a certain charm to his writing, a charm that’s very easy to lose yourself in like you’re reading a letter from an old and very good friend.
If you should be the type of person who likes hearing from old friends while they tell stories of cats, Dads without volume and the more idyllic aspects of life then this is the book for you.
