The Good Samaritan by E.S. Grant is not the type of book I normally pick up but I’m really glad I did. I discovered it at a gorgeous new bookstore in St. Petersburg, Florida, where the author happened to be signing. I was excited to try something different, especially with a signed copy in hand. Since I drive an hour each way to work, I also grabbed the audiobook so I could dive in right away.

Overall, the story kept my interest and turned out to be a great book that I would recommend to friends. The only thing I personally struggled with was the narrator. Art Brown is clearly talented, but for this particular story, his tone just didn’t match what I imagined for the characters and mood. That’s purely personal preference.

E.S. Grant — when we spoke, you asked for my thoughts on turning this into a series, and my answer is 100% yes. In my opinion, I’d love to hear the story specifically from The Good Samaritan’s perspective next time. Start with his childhood, move into what was going through his mind at the beginning of this book, then pick up after the ending (no spoilers!). I’d love to get to know him on a deeper, more intimate level.

I’m not a professional reviewer, but this was my honest take. I’m really glad I gave this book a chance, and I’d definitely read more from this author.
