Can you hide a secret with the whole world watching?

When an explosion rips apart a Chicago building, the lives of three women are forever altered.

A year later, Cecily is in mourning. She was supposed to be in the building that day. Instead, she stood on the street and witnessed it going down, with her husband and best friend inside. Kate, now living thousands of miles away, fled the disaster and is hoping that her past won’t catch up with her. And Franny, a young woman in search of her birth mother, watched the horror unfold on the morning news, knowing that the woman she was so desperate to reconnect with was in the building.

Now, despite the marks left by the tragedy, they all seem safe. But as its anniversary dominates the media, the memories of that terrifying morning become dangerous triggers. All these women are guarding important secrets. Just how far will they go to keep them?

The Truth About "The Good Liar"....

What would have made The Good Liar better?

If you like listening to paint drip....this is the book for you. I gave it one hour of my time and the book just did not move for me. The narrators were excellent but the book was very, very slow-paced.

Would you ever listen to anything by Catherine McKenzie again?

No.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I did not make it through the whole book. so I only listened to two of the book's narrators. Both narrators were excellent but they had similar voices so it was hard to identify which character's part they were reading.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.

Any additional comments?

There are so many amazing books on Audible. This one was not one of them.

Stupendous

Author Catherine McKenzie twists and weaves the plot so deftly that I could hardly turn off my car as I listened on audio. Here is a novel of intricate suspense and profound insight into human nature

Uneven narration

The story was interesting enough to keep me listening to the end, but some of the narration was really annoying. There are more than one people reading this, and I guess it was just one of the female voices that had an irritating habit of over-enunciating every syllable. It was very distracting. Only a computer generated voice gives as much emphasis to the word “and” as this lady does.

Interesting

The book kept my interest because I kept waiting to see exactly what the secrets were. I’m still not really sure now what they were! Reading was excellent, story overall was ok and sad. A struggle in life as many go through.

Twists and intrigue

Good book. I needed to go back to revisit some of the twists in the plot.

Too disjointed and confusing.

Not McKenzie's best work. it was hard to get connected with the characters. They were incomplete. it was difficult to keep track of the varying stories. it's like she started with a story idea that had promise but didnt get it all in order or fleshed out. I do not recommend this book.

I could not get past the awful narration to even give the story a chance.

Pretty good.

Predictable, but entertaining. I'm not sure it deserved all the hype, but the negative reviews seem unfair as well. I never felt like it was a "big twist" ending. I saw it coming for a long time. That doesn't make it a bad story though.

Final surprise lie!,,,

surprising ending!, Enjoyed it clear through the epilogue. Each character was well defined and their differences made the story to come together. I especially appreciate that you can listen to these books without concerns of having to listen to bad words!,,,
