Publisher's Summary

Precious Ramotswe, the ample and good-natured owner of the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency, is experiencing staffing difficulties.

Her relationship with her assistant, Mma Makutsi, is strained. But the work of the agency must continue. Mr J. L .B. Matekoni becomes involved in the agency's work when he investigates an errant husband.

But can a man investigate such matters as competently as one of the ladies? Mma Ramotswe has her doubts. One thing that she does not doubt is the good nature of Mr J. L. B. Matekoni, who stands for all that is solid and true in a shifting world.

Critic Reviews

"The author's prose has the merits of simplicity, euphony and precision. His descriptions leave one as if standing in the Botswana landscape. ( Sunday Telegraph)

new narrator in series

The No. 1 Ladies detective agency series is a charming set of unpretentious books, lovely to listen to while gardening or doing other chores. Unfortunately, the sries has changed the narrator, which is not an imporvement. It is quite annoying that she tries to give each person another voice and accent (and not even consistently) and they are very much over the top.

Tania Scott-Radley

The narrator read well BUT it seems that she did no research as to the pronunciation of African names and words. What a pity!

Gentle tales of Botswana

These books are a delight to listen to. The plots are uncomplicated which makes them easy to listen to. The characters develop with each new book and have the ability to make you smile as you listen.
